THE SHINIGAMI APPLICATION Name: Kishibe Yamada Real Age: 290 Phys. Age: 26 Gender: Male Personality: To the onlooker, it would appear as though Kishibe is strong but silent in nature. Whilst this statement bears some truth in that his very presence seemingly commands the attention of those around him, his penchant for mutism coupled with his vacant nonchalance conveying only apathy, it is ultimately equivocal in nature. These traits are merely pieces of a grander suit of armour that serves to guard him at his very core. Whilst it may appear that Kishibe is somewhat socially inept, he is reserved, subconsciously 'vetting' those who would seek to interact with him so as to gauge their persona. Past experiences have taught him well in that regard, as his circle of so-called friends is practically non-existent, the very idea of bonds in and of itself but a pipe dream. Kishibe considers himself a man of action, placing greater stock in one's actions in a world filled with arrogant boasts and empty threats. However, should anyone truly manage to shatter the barrier that surrounds him they will find that he is fiercely loyal and a true kindred spirit, rekindling the remnants of his benevolence that so rarely appears but for the tending of his plants. CHARACTER APPEARANCE Height: 6’2 Weight: 138 Physical Traits: BACK-DROP History: Growing up in Kusajishi, Kishibe learned a valuable lesson from the get-go. “Trust doesn't come easily, nor is it mutual”. Bonding with the other children his age was an arduous if not foolhardy task, effectively forming fists at their birth; their behaviour as deprived as the district itself. He preferred his own company, often disappearing to admire the local flora; considering himself to be a disciple of the land, as opposed to violence. Whilst other kids hounded the merchants or loitered near the gambling dens, Kishibe was all-too eager to develop his green fingers, tending to his growing collection of assorted small plants. Life was as safe as it was benign, and it was this very way in which he proceeded to coast through a chunk of it, the lone outcast in a district otherwise chock-full of them. Ironic, and woefully so. The other kids bullied him for it, perceiving his otherwise innocent behaviour as ‘weak’ and ‘girly’. They were relentless, and soon enough a tragic routine began to take root: Wake up, run, hide, sleep. Wake up, run, hide, sleep. Exhausting though it was, his speed was leaps and bounds ahead of his pursuers, allowing him to gain something akin to an advantage in lieu of the beatings that more than likely awaited him should he falter. His undeveloped legs eventually buckled beneath him, however, much to his chagrin. He crawled home to the muck in which he slept wholly riddled with bruises and lacerations, a patch-work collage of blacks and blues. Though it has been many a year since, he has never forgotten. Irregardless of his condition, they persisted, as much a game for them as it was torture for him. Kishibe’s patience had long worn thin, one outburst resulting in an explosion of… ‘colour’ in his vicinity, sending the group of urchins careening into one another, the children piling in a confused and frightened heap. Now he'd done it. The children didn't need an excuse, but now the adults had gained one, further excluding him from their ‘society’. Someone must have detected the sudden, if small, spike however. An individual garbed in black eventually happening across the small boy one day. From that day forward, Kishibe's life had taken a turn for the better, the boy plunged headlong into a life of education denied to those deemed lesser than he. Kishibe had never believed in fate, but surely some power beyond his comprehension had deigned to intervene that day, he was sure of it. His old habits had not yet eluded him, however, Kishibe still finding challenge in introducing himself to his class and making friends. But he concluded that he didn’t need them, not really. The opportunity to eat a proper meal and sleep with a roof over his head was sufficient enough. Manuscripts soon became his closest confidants, and the training grounds, his library. There he would gladly waste his days away amidst the lessons, all in the name of attaining greater strength and earning his right to stay within the Seireitei's walls; convincing himself night and day that, if he didn't, he'd be exiled once more. For the onlookers, it was frightening, the degree of which he ‘applied’ himself both in the classroom and outside of it. For as talkative as he was not, the cacophony of grunts and yells that escaped his mouth during his free-time training more than made up for it. The teachers viewed him as an enigma, he saw himself as but a mere student. One with a mindset that extended beyond menial concepts such as banter and lethargy. It allowed him to reap greater rewards, eventually. It took time, but he eventually managed to graduate from Shin’ō, finding his way to the ranks of the 6th division. Exposition: For all of his skills, Kishibe is far from a fight-lover, and will often seek to talk his way out of what he would deem to be an unnecessary engagement or otherwise attempt to discourage his opponents from drawing their weapon/s at all. Though, if the matter is pressing, or his opponents should prove to be persistent he will remain respectful; indulging them with the battle they seek. Kishibe is a delightful mixture of flamboyance, femininity and domineering will, evident by both the light makeup he frequently dons as well as the floral kimono that he drapes over his shihakusho. In a world overflowing with death and hideous beasts, is it wrong to pursue beauty? Side Notes: As seen in the picture above, though his left bangs cover it for the most part, there is a scar that runs vertically from his jawline, the epidermis having considerably darkened somewhat; an old wound from an injury during sparring at Shin'ō academy. THE COMBAT INFORMATION General Fighting Style: Kishibe's fighting style is best described as ‘offensive defence’. Similar to the principles of wing chun, Kishibe's fighting style is designed around patience, using the opponent's own momentum and power against them in order to create an opening with which to capitalize upon. To further emphasize this, in no part due to his dual zanpakuto, Kishibe's attacks are often ‘single tempo’ in that both blades are utilized simultaneously e.g a simultaneous swing and thrust, a parry and a slash. Raw attack power is traded for optimisation and efficiency, gradually wearing down his opponents until the correct time comes to go on the offensive.[/b]] Strengths: Zanjutsu, Hohō, Kidō, Reiatsu Control Weaknesses: Sensing, Hakuda, Stamina Ability Name: Oni Decapitation Ability Description: A technique utilising both hohō and zanjutsu in a precise, swift combination attack. With a shunpo, Kishibe leaps a short distance from the ground, tucking his knees tightly to his abdomen. As rapid as the motion itself is, Kishibe's blades are speedier still, simultaneously slashed outwards in a cross formation at the neck to swiftly dispatch a hollow. The initial power of the jump, and its apex is dependent on the height of the hollow/target. Ability Name: Blade Soul Ability Description: Kishibe infuses his blade(s) with reiatsu, which can either be used to enhance the cutting power of his attacks or otherwise released with a slashing motion; forming a large, crescent wave that arcs towards the target and subsequently disperses with an explosion. The greater the expenditure of reiatsu, the larger the explosion, ranging from Sokatsui - Cero in regards to its destructive power. (1 post cooldown) ZANPAKUTO Sealed Appearance: A twinned pair of Katana and Wakizashi, the katana held in his right (main) hand and the wakizashi, his left (off-hand). The katana is of standard length, with the blade measuring a total of 29”, and the wakizashi’s blade measuring a total of 20”, slightly shorter so that neither blade is crossed when swung simultaneously. In their sealed forms, the blades bear a damascus pattern-forged swirl that span their length from tip to tsuba. The ‘tsuba’ -or hand guards- are derivatives of the ‘tate-ito-gata’ design, in that they bear four deep lobes that have been carved into each quadrant, resulting in a curved yet angular presentation. The tsuba are golden, bearing a stylised engraving of ‘Raijin’, the god of thunder. The fuchi, similar to that of the tsuba, is forged from gold. The ‘tsuka-ito’ - or wrapping- is woven from (midnight) blue and (electric) yellow, interlocking as it works its way up the length of the tsuka, with the wood beneath a bright silver birch so as to emphasise and compliment the colour. The kashira is once again golden, bearing the kanji for ‘storm’ - 嵐 Zanpakutou Name: Raimei & Inazuma Call Out Command: “Split the clouds, Raimei & Inazuma!”
