The sands were dark and cold the night that Arekussu found his children. It was a perfect night in the sands in Arekussu’s opinion; the cold kept him awake as he walked and the darkness kept him hidden from the hollows around him. Then again, it was also the anniversary of Bestia’s death, which marred the beauty of the giant moon that hung effortlessly above him or the countless stars that sparkled in the sky. It always depressed him to imagine that he could still be with her if he had known of the shinigami assailants on that night. But it was her choice in the end, he knew this now, and it helped to soften the blow of her passing.

Still, every year he went to the same spot to repair the glass monolith he had created in her memory. It sat right below a long strip of cliffs far away from Los Noches. Above the monolith in the cliffs was the cave that he and Bestia had called home for almost 30 years. He had not gone back into the cave since her death and did not plan to ever return, as he knew the memories would be too hard for him to take. No amount of pre-thought had prepared him for what lied in wait this year, however.

It was the first time he had been back to the monolith since his capture, and as such he expected it to be completely gone at this point. The thing was made of glass, after all, and the sand wore away at the glass so quickly in the desert. But when he came to the area, he was immediately put on guard by the fact that the Monolith was still in perfect condition. It had not even begun to deteriorate, it looked as if it had been just fixed yesterday. When he looked closer at the words on the glass, a new word had been added. Instead of just reading Bestia, it now read, “Bestia, MOTHER.”

He turned as he felt a presence behind him, and heard a woman’s voice say, “Father, you are finally home.”

Arekussu heard the voice just as the person it belonged to came into his view. When he saw her features he gasped and his hand came to cover his mouth. She was… Bestia. It was her, in the flesh, standing before him. Long white hair, violet eyes, it had to be her. After looking closer though, Arekussu noticed a more angled jaw line, smaller eyes and less full lips that were never a part of Bestia’s features. That, and the woman’s body shape was slightly off as well, standing taller than Bestia by around 3 inches, almost to his height. And when he looked closer at her violet eyes, he swore he could see some small flecks of blue scattered through them.

The complete lack of mask on the girl worried him, more so than the large sword that rested easily in her right hand. When he attempted to read her reitsu, he only felt a muddled mix of his own and Bestia’s, twisting together to create some new sort of creature he had never witnessed before. Similar to an arrancar, he felt hollow mixed with shinigami within her, and yet the balance of the two was… perfect. Always arrancar had more hollow and vizard had more shinigami, he had never met a being with such a perfect balance between the two races.

And from the maliscious grin that was spread across her face, he knew she was not here for some strange family meeting. Something in his subconscious had already admitted that she must be his daughter, but Arekussu chose to ignore that fact for now, as he considered it an impossibility for him and Bestia to have children. After all, she was barren in all medical iterations of the word. The longer his gaze sat on the woman before him, the more doubt crept into his mind, however. They were together for 30 some odd years, and the amount of times they had intimate relations was almost uncountable. He had never seen any sign of pregnancy and he was sure Bestia would have told him, they both wanted it so badly. None of this made sense.

The woman snickered, obviously understanding his confusion. “You think that its impossible don’t you? That I couldn’t exist?” before Arekussu could even react, she was standing behind him, her hand on his shoulder and her face close to his ear. “Well I am here, father, and I am… displeased.” He cringed as her nails dug into his shoulder, and her voice rose to an angry yell, “You left us all alone! ALONE TO DIE!” Arekussu spun to grab her hand off of him, but he was too late, She threw him as hard as she could, sending him flying head over heals into the wall of the mountainous cliff face that he and Bestia had lived in all those years ago.

Us? There were more of them, and Arekussu was blown away by the strength of just one. She was easily more powerful than him, he could tell by the pressure of her reitsu and the easy saunter she used as she walked over to his lifeless body. He was crumpled against the stone, the air knocked out of him by the throw. She was waling slowly towards him, this was his chance to go on the counter attack. If only he could catch his breath. She was close, her hand reaching for his throat…

And he was gone, the bang from his sonido blasting sand into her face. She yelled, clawing at her eyes to remove the sand, as Arekussu came around from behind with a roundhouse kick to the back of her head. It connected with a thud, the force behind the blow smashing her skull into the rock face and creating huge cracks all around the point of impact. Her body slumped over as he jumped back, landing softly on the ground about 30 feet away.

A prick of pain, and then what felt like a punch in the back, and suddenly there was a sword sticking out of Arekussu’s gut. The blade absorbed the blood that ran from the wound into a small container at the hilt as the girl behind him chuckled. He attempted to release his zanpactou to use the temporary shield as an escape, but he could not even lift his arm to his headphones. His body went limp as the blade slid out from his chest cavity, taking with it a good portion of his internal organs.

His eyesight and consciousness waned as he lay on the ground. The last sight he saw was the girl in his face, saying, “Thank you father! Now my brothers and sisters can come and join in on the fun as well!” before she kissed him on the forehead. Everything went black.
