Description: when materialized, it looks like a steel tablet with concise information sculpted into it. when neutral or left alone however, it takes on the form of a mercury puddle that can run around doing whatever it wants. in tablet form, it weighs about 3 lbs, and is 8x11x1''. but in puddle form, it can change it's weight and size to be up to 1000 lbs, and 10 ft. in diameter.
Effect: the Codex has only one function. it can tell you the abilities/techniques of anything that is named in its presence. in the case of two things having the same name, it knows which one you are speaking of. the information is complete, and includes anything that you could want to know about it. the Codex has a mind of it's own and can choose who it shares its information with. that said, it has no moral identity, so it might share information just to see what happens next. the Codex is completely indestructible.

History: there are many different ideas about where the Codex came from. the first is that the King of soul society drew it from his mind, and gave it form. the second is that it is the collection of ideas in the heads of every person, and only exists because we do. the third, and some say the most likely, is that certain cosmic conditions were met and it simply came into being out of its own accord. it has been the key item in the turning points of many conflicts, giving information about the tactics of the enemy, or a secret weapon they had just created. it never hangs around for long, and often doesn't show itself for decades at a time.

You have already mentioned that details "sculpted" in the codex are concise. Please elaborate as to how it will contain extensive information about someones abilities and techs. The working principle of the codex, is unclear as to how it is able to identify one's abilities and techs, also, in the case of two similar names, how will it know that who is being mentioned? Is there a data already stored in the item? If so, how and when did that happen? And how will it contain of the data of those who weren't even born when the item came to be, as it is an ancient artifact.

This is almost like the codex has a personality. If so, does that mean it's not actually an item but more of a living being? Or, is it an item having a few properties of living beings?

Alright, so your keeping the origins a mystery, nice touch to it. But, it only shows itself every once in a while. So is there a specific scenario when it appears or a specific condition needs to be met for it to appear?

And who will be the owner of the item? If the item doesn't have an owner, than it would be used all over the thread by multiple people, if the item has only been made for a specific thread, please specify the thread. If there is an owner, please say so, and also include how you came upon the item.
