#1Saelien Empty Saelien Mon Jul 29, 2013 8:02 am

Saelien

Saelien

Who are you?

    Name: Saelien
Alias: The Cold Lord, The Living Death
    Age: ~2500
    Age of Appearance: ~20
    Gender: Male
    Race/Species: Arrancar
Character Alignment: 'Neutral Evil' – Saelien walks the world as a man without friends or enemies, enjoying and having what he wills, when he wills it.  To him, regular morality is considered amusing at best and like heavy chains at worst; no respect for life coupled with a harsh pragmatism leads Saelien to be seen as utterly evil by many.

Appearance: Having once been a hollow with icy cold abilities, Saelien takes a rather fitting form as an arrancar, for even the slowest should quickly realise at least some of the nature of his power.  Saelien is slightly above average in height and rather slim, possessing a lightly muscled and lithe body, both strong and quick – this might not be immediately obvious to others, of course, for Saelien is not a brute, nor does he show off the strength he wields through visually impressive displays, and of course, his clothes obscure such things.  However, he is a killer, an assassin, a stealer of life and a bringer of cold; these are the things that have contributed to his earthly form.

In his movements, Saelien betrays not a hint of any of that – many assassins or skilled swordsmen look dangerous, deadly, individuals that are not to be taken lightly.  With blades sheathed they have an aura of strength, and with blades drawn, a penumbra of mortality, but in all his actions, Saelien is casual, relaxed, apparently thoroughly unconcerned, and from looks alone, one could never perceive murderous intent from this man.  This usually even carries over to combat situations, leaving his actions rather difficult to predict; he is always graceful, and thoroughly unconcerned.  For all his intentions, Saelien appears like a beacon of peace and tranquillity, calm as a breeze of wind.

A glance at Saelien’s skin reveals him to be rather pale, like one who has never seen the light of day, and yet more…almost like a ghost, something not quite human at all – and were one to touch Saelien’s skin, they would discover that he is rather cold, nothing like a living person but instead more similar to ice.  Cold, like death itself, as if ice has replaced blood in his veins.  His body is also completely devoid of blemishes such as scars and the like, a figure of perfection; the reason for this is less to do with his lack of fighting, and more to do with one of his natural abilities.  In theory, he could be covered in scars, could be a figure showing terrible signs of injury, a cripple…but he is not.  A personal choice of his, really.

Saelien’s face is a smooth and pale visage, near ethereal in appearance – one could not mistake that this is a man despite everything, but human?  Even arrancar?  Perhaps, perhaps not.  Furthermore, trying to place an age on Saelien, simply from his looks, is rather difficult.  One look might suggest the arrancar is youthful…but the second could betray the deep knowledge hiding within the icy blue eyes of Saelien, thus to the observant, gauging age from his appearance is not merely futile.  Such eyes are cold things, possessing unusually bright irises, gazing on most others without warmth, without compassion, only crystal clear vision, often conflicting with the apparent personality of the man.  For those who believe that the eyes are the window to the soul, staring into Saelien’s might reveal the chilling truth of the man – all you will see is the cold and an old, cunning intelligence.

Completing this image is Saelien’s hair, which is also a light shade of blue, close to white – thus, Saelien is a man who would not look out of place in a world of ice.  It is also remarkably long and most often left in its natural state; flowing and elegant, for this is simply Saelien’s preferred style.

Style/Clothing: As might be expected then, his clothes are fine indeed; nothing like the regular uniform of the arrancar, and instead something of his own, personal design.  Saelien wears almost fully white clothes – boots, trousers and a long coat, save for a black shirt and black gloves.  On his right hand, Saelien wears a silver ring, inset with a small sapphire gem…and around his neck, Saelien wears a seemingly polished chain of white ceramic, completed with another azure crystal – the remains of his hollow mask, of course.  His hollow hole is entirely concealed by his clothes…for it is quite standard, a hole through the body where the heart should be – apt for a man that can be described as heartless.

Saelien apparently does not carry a Zanpakuto…but this is not quite the truth.  His Zanpakuto is not a sword and is more similar to a dagger, thus is often sheathed and concealed within his clothes, only to be drawn when Saelien fully intends to release, and often used as a makeshift item of armour when necessary.  In times when Saelien plans on merely fighting, however, others might mistake the other weapons he carries as his Zanpakuto; carried in twin sheaths to either side of his body, Saelien has thin blades of ‘ice’ to fight his opponents with, rather than using his Zanpakuto.  These are, in fact, the same blades that Saelien is capable of summoning in his released form…but whilst sealed, he is incapable of repairing them.  In addition to these, Saelien sometimes carries short knives of ice – not that any would know, but when Saelien carries knives, he fully intends to use them, rather than the precaution that the swords often are.

    Tattoo's/Scars/Etc: N/A

Personality: Saelien is an individual both remarkably simple and yet rather complex.  His every action and word is dedicated to one eventual goal, and yet even the most perceptive would fail to see the final objective Saelien desires to complete.  Said goal is one fitting for an arrancar with cold powers, so often associated with death; he desires, chiefly, an end to most powerful spirits, with himself and any others he finds entertaining being the only real exceptions.  Shinigami, arrancar, hollows…and even the spiritually aware humans that possess great strength are his targets.  A lofty ambition, one that requires patience, cunning…and Saelien possesses these things in abundance.  He is the kind of individual that would happily sacrifice a century to moving his plans forward infinitesimally, perhaps even for the mere hint of future developments.  Calm, unconcerned, there isn’t any force in the world that can perturb Saelien; everyone and everything can die, after all, and if someone wishes to cause trouble, then they can be disposed of…eventually, at least.

But on the surface, to the world around him, Saelien is a wholly different man than might be expected.  He might desire death and oblivion to apparent enemy and ally alike, but that does not mean he is some cold and lifeless executioner, an emotionless harbinger of doom and dread.  Quite the reverse; he is a being full of life, enjoying every moment and making that fact abundant clear, whilst wishing to bring death unto others.  Saelien is, as arrancar go, a rather likeable one.  Always polite – even if momentarily descending to deliver a carefully placed insult or threat – Saelien sees no reason for any other form of conduct.  However, although he may be polite, one should not be fooled into thinking that Saelien is overly honourable or truthful…of course, Saelien has no problems if others have such an illusion regarding him.  He is, ultimately, pragmatic, and will take the best course of action to suit his needs.  If lies are absolutely necessary, then they will be used, and if someone must be stabbed in the back, then alas, so be it.  Credit due where credit is due, Saelien does try to avoid such unsavoury things, for overly complicated webs of deceit and betrayal tend to snag the creators eventually.

That said, it would take a very great fool or someone overly trusting in Saelien (and ah, surely the two are one the same?) to believe he is an innocent creature, to think he is of little importance, for Saelien has no qualms with allowing his intelligence to be seen and experienced.  He isn’t above dropping hints and certain warnings into a conversation to tempt and bait; he has a mission, a complex one, and allowing others to know that much is acceptable.  Indeed, half the fun is watching them try to figure out his motives, conjuring up their own incorrect conclusions.  However, Saelien is also suspicious of all others; he knows quite well that the only person he can fully trust is none other than himself, and all others, be they Numeros or Espada, Captain or mere fodder shinigami, are infinitely more dubious and fallible.  For this reason, there isn’t a soul alive that truly understands Saelien, for there isn’t a soul alive that Saelien has any too close a relationship with, and he prefers the situation remaining this way…being an enigma is far superior to being a known value.

Needless to say, Saelien is rather arrogant and proud; his pride and his arrogance stem mostly from his mind, so formidable and mighty, and his natural abilities.  He is smarter than most (personally believing less in ’most’ and more in ’all’, and his successes in life certainly support his views thus far) and with his powers, he can treat his own 'death' with nothing more than contempt, for a situation where he would be in any real threat of dying is virtually unthinkable.  Naturally, this leads to Saelien having no fear whatsoever, and why should he?  Dying is more an inconvenience than anything else, physical harm is ultimately meaningless, and his allies mean nothing to him.  Their loss is at worst an inconvenience, at best a triumph.  He has no friends, no need for things like love…and so he has no fear for the safety and lives of others either.

By default, all shinigami are his ‘enemies’ (but if any were willing to become ‘allies’, then Saelien would be the very last who would turn them down – he isn’t about to discriminate in such matters), but they only become true enemies, real annoyances if they actively oppose him personally, actively hinder his nefarious plans.  Only for a true enemy will Saelien bring himself to fight seriously; whilst it is true that in almost any fight, Saelien will seek to defeat and preferably kill the opponent in the fastest, most efficient means possible, he would much rather not fight at all.  In favourable circumstances, Saelien would only fight those he deems true enemies…in the end, this means that it is a very select few who may ever see the wrath of the released form of Saelien.  Saelien is otherwise mostly reluctant regarding battles, doing his best to stay away and let others do the work – he is an artist in death, and fighting is the time wasted before the killing.  A mastermind of death should set the scene, and eventually let the dominoes drop…but the hard work, the fighting itself, is best left to the pawns.  However, if he must, Saelien will not hesitate to enter the battlefield, for the simple truth remains that whilst others might be asked to fight, only he can truly ensure that everything works out for the best.

But, to the other likeable aspects.  Saelien isn’t exactly a man of few words; he enjoys the sound of his own voice, and engages in conversations most often with delight.  Even to those he intends to kill, Saelien can be quite charming, and furthermore, although he has not a care in the world for love, the beautiful ladies of the arrancar, shinigami and even humans are hardly going to be ignored.  Of all beings, they are the last on his list of individuals to see dead…for Saelien is not one to completely abandon more human pleasures.  Saelien also enjoys a few indulgences; the man is rather fond of wine and a few select foods from the mortal world.  When relaxing, Saelien might also be found reading, or perhaps even walking around on Earth, peaceful, calm…and so very unlike his fellow arrancar.

    Likes:

    • Clever/Skilled people: The world is made interesting by those possessing the skill to make it so.  Without vision and a means to make it reality, there could be no entertainment for Saelien, and so it those clever people, those who can create intelligent conversation, those who can envision new ideas and concepts and make them so, those who can be the proverbial spanner in his works, who often prove to be those he likes the most in the world.

    • Fools: At the other side of the coin exists yet another thing that Saelien likes – whilst those who are clever and/or skilled can provide a challenge for Saelien, those who are not, by lack of those qualities through simple ignorance or more through being talentless, can make life easy in certain ways, and can allow Saelien and those like him to have such grand ideas and plans, knowing they have a stable base of tools to use.

    • Chaos: The time when creation is most malleable is when nothing is certain.  Times of war, times of disaster – these are some of the times when Saelien is most active, for so much can occur, and if there are truly great things that Saelien must do, then this is surely the time to do them, for what better way to conceal annihilation than to mask it in even greater destruction?

    • Order: When a structure that is acceptable has been founded, then it is desirable to keep that structure.  Saelien does not always like order, for with order a certain stagnation can often occur, but order brings rules, and rules can be used for good or ill.  Order is predictable, and that which is predictable is easily used.  Moreover, order that Saelien himself brings, being a thing he desired, is of course something that he likes.

    • Cold: The cold is what is natural to Saelien, and as such it is cold environments that he finds himself most at home in.  This isn't to say he dislikes warmer climates, but when snow descends and ice covers the landscape?  That is ideal for Saelien.

    • Society: Whilst there are the pioneers in the world, they wouldn't mean anything unless there was a structure to the world, a way for all the people to interact.  Saelien enjoys society for to him, it only really offers, and takes away nothing.  Much like order, society establishes what is normal, and knowledge of what is normal is imperative for someone like Saelien, who lacks the same morals as other people, to integrate flawlessly with whoever he must.

    • Work: The world is what one makes of it, and being idle can bring no good.  For those reasons alone, Saelien likes to constantly be working on something – it could be anything, ranging from his dark plans to just crafting something, anything that will enrich his life.

    • Fine Wine: Say one thing for the human world – they know better than spirits how to create delicious things.  As a being of the Hueco Mundo, a world of whites and greys and only hollows for food, their blood to drink, the fine things from Earth are wonderful to Saelien.  He has a particular fondness for fine red wine, and if one were to gift him with such a thing, he would surely think highly of the individual.

    • Fine Food: In the same way as fine wine, fine food offers Saelien something that is not available in his native world.  The expense is, of course, irrelevant to a spirit, and so why would he not indulge in only the best?

    • Fine Clothes: Presentation is key, a thing to be proud of, and whilst Saelien often likes to keep to the shadows, when he does reveal himself, unless wishing to remain anonymous he will wear the best clothes he can find.  On Earth, he almost exclusively wears white suits, and in Hueco Mundo he has a collection of spare replicas of his chosen uniform, just in case one set is even slightly damaged.

    • Beautiful women: Millennia of life have not dulled some of the more basic pleasures in Saelien's life.  He is well aware of his own appearance, his natural ability to charm and manipulate, and he takes great pleasure in finding and seducing the most beautiful women of all the worlds when the opportunity arises.

    • Victory: In all things – be it training for a new technique, orchestrating a great battle, or simply finding someone interesting to speak with, the sweetest thing to Saelien is victory.  Victory in all things is something worth striving for.

    • Minor Defeat: Whilst Saelien likes victory, a life that is naught but victory is a stagnant and plain one.  If one can do nothing but win, then there is nothing to learn, no way to truly improve.  Minor defeats show flaws to correct, weaknesses to overcome and avenues of life that must be explored.  They show how to become a better being, whilst brining no serious negative repercussions with them, and so Saelien enjoys them when they come.

    • Literature: Saelien enjoys words, and so he particularly enjoys the works of those who can take words and create tales from them.  Saelien was born and died before he could experience literature, and the Hueco Mundo has never truly had such things, and so whilst on Earth, Saelien is happy to read any work of fiction, so long as the words flow and interest him.

    • Killing: Ultimately, Saelien also likes killing.  He does not enjoy it in the same way as a brute on the battlefield, to whom another death is another number, but instead more like a serial killer, savouring, when he can, the light fading away from the soul he is cutting down.  Weaker, less interesting beings do not demand much time from Saelien if he slays them, but watching the death of a powerful being by his own hands is a truly delightful experience for Saelien, every time.

    Dislikes:

    • Society: The fact that Saelien views himself as superior to so many beings also ensures that, whilst he enjoys much of what society provides him, he also despises it, for it contains masses of trash, worthless beings that flood the world.  Even though he appreciates the use that they have, it does not change the reality that their existence is an unpleasant one.

    • Fighting: Put simply, fighting is inefficient.  Saelien's own dislike for fighting yet enjoyment in killing, in victory, might have led to the development of his terrifying skill, yet he has never changed his view on combat.  Combat is the last option, the route to take when others have failed, and once Saelien enters combat, he generally seeks to be gone from it as soon as possible.

    • Overconfidence: The more powerful anything becomes, and the more that being learns to think, the more likely overconfidence is in becoming the downfall of that being – a truth that Saelien has witnessed countless times.  Carefully measured views of ones own competence is to be strived for, and idle boasting and displays of gross arrogance are detestable.  Saelien seeks to descend into such distasteful actions and thoughts as little as possible, and frowns on those who descend with regularity.

    • Wasted Time: Any time spent doing something that Saelien enjoys is time well spent.  Time otherwise spent – perhaps having to intervene personally in matters that once did not require his presence – is time wasted, and although Saelien would never think twice about sacrificing a century to one scheme, he would be appalled to lose five minutes in doing something he did not want to do.

    • The Strong: Let it be known that a certain measure of resistance helps in keeping things interesting for Saelien.  However, those who deny him in any of his desires are those that have displeased him, and those capable enough to fight and survive against him, whilst often granted the necessary respect, are also disliked.

    • Pain: Pain is a sign that something has gone very wrong.  Emotional pain shows that Saelien allowed himself to grow too attached to something, a terrible weakness on his part, and physical pain shows that something got the better of him.  His body is not designed to withstand large amounts of damage, and so pain is a sign of danger that Saelien is used to – one might say too used to – overcoming with ease.

    • Hueco Mundo: The hollow world has always been a dull place for Saelien.  The white sands are too plain, the sky never changing, and the architecture lacking, and bland where present.  Compared to Soul Society, and especially the human world, the Hueco Mundo is just aesthetically displeasing.

    • Major Defeat: Minor defeat might spur on good change, but major defeat is the destruction of ideas, and the loss of time.  Major defeat forces immediate reaction, and depending on the level of the defeat, might demand constant action for some time to come.  It is one of the worst things in the world to Saelien.

    Ambitions/Dreams/Goals:

    • A world of lies: The perfect world is one where the people believe they have choices, that they can live their lives as they will, but are in truth in the darkness, in the abyss itself, led through the shadow not by light but by Saelien's word and Saelien's will.  It is a world where all things bend to his will without knowing their knees are bent.

    • Entertainment: In all things that Saelien does willingly, he seeks his own entertainment.  Thousands of years of being alive combined with a desire to keep living spurs him to find things, old and new, that amuse him.  Saelien understands the potential for ennui that comes with a long life, and he does not intend to experience such boredom, such depression.

    • Life: Just as keeping entertained is a goal, staying alive is also a goal.  The dreams of death and control over who lives and who dies that drive Saelien to succeed are also dangerous dreams, even to one such as him.  He intends to live forever, and each day is another success.

    • An 'acceptable' equal: Those who are strong are often those that Saelien hates, and yet a part of him desires the existence of a being that truly matches him, word against word, blade against blade, but most importantly, has such morals and desires that they can work alongside Saelien, rather than becoming a target.  Naturally, he would prefer such a being to be a female.

    Strengths:

    • Martial Skill: Saelien's major focus in combat has always been swordplay, and he has refined his skill to truly astronomical levels.  With a desire to never be in combat for longer than necessary, Saelien's ability to neutralise targets quickly makes him a terror on the battlefield.

    • Intelligence: Analytical and cunning, Saelien has a deep understanding of people, of strategy and tactics and no qualms against using all that he knows to it's greatest effect.  He understands anything new to him both quickly and easily.

    • Fearlessness: Saelien's ability to survive and his lack of friends or close ones to protect means that he has nothing to fear in the world.  This is not some ignorance that comes from a belief of invincibility, nor has Saelien lost touch with other emotions.  He has simply abandoned what no longer serves him any purpose.

    • Age: Although he may not be the oldest being in creation, Saelien is still old, with all the experience that comes with it.  His life has been one of constant action, and so he has seen and overcome many things; he has defeated other beings like himself, and beings stronger than himself on the rare occasion.  He has known inventors and artists, heroes and villains, and he has seen curious and powerful abilities – his knowledge of the worlds is hard to match.

    • Manipulation: The wants and needs of other beings are things that Saelien looks for carefully.  These are the keys he needs to open the lock that is their mind, their emotions, and play them like a fiddle.  Saelien is talented at making others believe what he wants them to believe, and he is also talented at making those who think they are getting a good deal sell him the world, and they themselves walk away with a pebble.

    • Pragmatism: Saelien can and has done horrible things in the past, things that would anger many and could potentially create enemies.  He does not do such actions – acts of slaughter, acts of manipulation – out of a need to do so, simply a want, and as such he is in full control of his actions, and he knows the ramifications of all things he might do.  As such, Saelien will do what he feels is safe, and will not engage in any action that could jeopardise himself.  This extends to combat, where he will freely disengage if he feels that he does not have the advantage; pride will not hold him back.

    Fears & Weaknesses:

    • Defence: Most, if not all arrancar possess hierro, but Saelien is an exception.  Deeming armour to be a weakness, for it represents accepting that an attack might hit, Saelien has abandoned all armour in his sealed form including hierro, rendering his defences solely down to what reiatsu he possesses.  As such, if one hits Saelien, one is likely to wound him.

    • Durability: Not only is Saelien not good at taking hits, but he is also poor at fighting for long after being wounded.  The damage that many other beings could happily ignore is dangerous damage to Saelien, forcing either a swift withdrawal or immediate victory.

    • Raw Strength: Saelien's power lies in skill and control – his raw strength is slightly below what would be expected for one of his power.  As such, he cannot engage most foes on his level in contests of strength and hope to win.

    • Arrogance: As much as he tries to avoid arrogance, it is sadly impossible for Saelien to accurately gauge the strength of others without being in combat with them.  As such, he tends to view most beings as being easily dealt with and not as much of a threat to him as they actually might be.

    • Range: Saelien's greatest strength lies at close range.  Whilst he does have the tools to fight others at different ranges, his proficiency at such is as nothing compared to close quarters.

    • Singularity: As Saelien has no concrete allies, it means that he is often alone, save for those who work for him.  There are scant few who would be willing to step in and help the Cold Lord if he were in a dangerous situation.

    • Hesitation: The pragmatism that leads Saelien to avoid encounters that he might not win cleanly also means that he rarely brings his full skill or power to bear against a foe.  If an opponent is strong enough to force him to release, there is an equally large chance that he might simply retreat.

    Hollow Type: Vasto Lorde

Hollow Reasoning: Misfortune was largely what created the hollow that was Saelien.  Misfortune in life, that drove him to an early death, although the true cause was hunger.  That hunger drove his spirit to become a hollow quickly after his death, but it was his misfortune in that no shinigami came to save his soul that sealed the deal.  It was also, in a sense, misfortune that made Saelien become an arrancar – he was defeated in battle, his mask broken.  Of course, looking back, Saelien would never call that event unfortunate.

Hollow Hole Location & Appearance: Saelien's hollow hole is a simple one, located at his heart.

Mask Fragment Appearance & Location: Saelien's mask fragment is a pure white necklace around his neck, largely hidden by his clothes, complete with a sapphire gemstone.

Hierro Armoring: Saelien does not possess visible external hierro armouring...in fact, he does not even normally possess hierro.

    Hollow Specialty: Sonido / Swordsmanship

Number & Location: No number.  Saelien does not act within the confines of the normal arrancar organisation for he sees no benefit in doing so, although he often works with them as an advisor or commander on the battlefield in lieu of (or in addition to) an Espada, if the battle is dangerous enough to require his presence.  He is a well known individual that any daring spirit – not merely arrancar, but even the likes of shinigami - with something to offer can contact for his personal aid, a mercenary of sorts.  The payment for the aid of such a being is never cheap and not everyone can successful pay it.

    Aspect of Death: Hunger

    Battle Specs

    List of 'Auto-Known' Skills:

Fighting Style: There are two aspects to how Saelien fights – there is his initial approach to the battle, and then how he will go about the battle itself.

In his approach, Saelien varies between two distinct styles depending on what he desires from the battle at hand – he might either treat the battle as a game, in which case he intends to let the opponent live and might prove easier to deal with himself, or he will seek to kill the opponent, in which case there will be not a shred of mercy, not a single word spoken between the time where Saelien engages until the battle ends.  If Saelien is fighting to kill, then rest assured, the enemy will be fighting for their life, where even a moment of hesitation will bring doom.  It is rare for Saelien to fight without the intention to kill…and, in certain and extraordinarily rare situations, Saelien might fight to kill, but only as long as the opponent persists in fighting.  Often, this is when his enemy is a female.

Saelien fights mostly at close quarters, and usually fights with his swords of ice.  His experience in fighting with those swords is so utterly complete that he adheres to no single particular mortal style of swordsmanship, instead using whatever action will be both swiftest and safest in eliminating the foe.  The number of souls that have clashed blades with Saelien and survived to tell the tale is a small number – his fights are often less 'fights' than 'fatal disagreements'.  This is because of his immense skill, created over years of training, learning and killing that initially led first to an epithet, 'The Living Death', that he accepted as true and later adopted as a fine name to describe his passive skill.  Saelien does not so much walk or run as flow on the battlefield, a lack of notable stances and set patterns in his art rendering his movements unpredictable at best.

He does not always seem the fastest, almost never widely dodging an attack but instead barely doing so, taking the route of least effort.  This is a ruse, for his movements are merely as fast as they need to be (within his capabilities) to overwhelm his foe, never using more power than required.  Most battles begin with deadly feints, waiting for or creating the opportunity to strike exposed flesh with a swift stroke of a frozen blade.  However, Saelien is capable of transitioning into different means of fighting as appropriate – if a sword shatters, then he can use the broken blade if needs be, or perhaps he will throw it as a weapon.

If reduced to one sword, Saelien will typically seek to find another weapon to complement his remaining sword.  If he has daggers of ice at the time, he will use one, and he is quite deadly with his daggers in hand.  If not, he might draw his Zanpakuto should he have the time, but if time is scarce then he can fight with his bare hands.  His unarmed style largely revolves around quick strikes to throw the opponent off balance and distract them whilst his weapons do the real damage, for Saelien is well aware that those with good defences could cause him to harm himself if he attempted to rely on brute force.

Through fluid footwork, speed and number of attacks, Saelien seeks to keep the opponent under pressure until they make a dangerous, likely fatal mistake.  Should the opponent attempt to run – in fear, or because they are better at fighting from a range – then Saelien will usually attempt to close the distance, rather than allowing the pace of the battle to be changed.  This, in fact, could sum up how his entire style works – in seeking the few blows that he needs to end a fight, Saelien will seek to control how the fight flows in order to achieve his ends.

As a result, he is considerably more dangerous in his released form, where broken swords and potential environmental advantages and disadvantages cease to be a major issue.  Saelien nearly always displays immense confidence in his released form, and quite often the pace of a battle can go from being swift to much slower after he releases – for his release form is a death that is inevitable, the pace one that he can often dictate on a whim.  He will transform the environment around him to suit his needs, having many swords available for use whenever necessary.

Depending on the nature, strength and danger an opponent represents, Saelien may go as far as to draw Silentium.  He uses the Sword of Silence like any other sword, but sometimes, he chooses not to complement it with another blade.  This is typically when he has found an opponent that he can respect.  However, those who have forced Saelien to draw Silentium are often not so fortunate, and Saelien will utilise a second sword as always.

    Personal Abilities:

      Name: Aparición (Phantom)
Effect: The ability that makes Saelien who he is, Aparición allows Saelien, at a certain cost, to survive any attack that could take his life, any mortal wounds…provided he sees them coming.  A moment is required to activate Aparición, at which point Saelien is able to separate his very essence from his body; although he may be a spirit, what reiatsu he has left at any given time and his mind is capable of separating itself entirely from the flesh, becoming an incorporeal, invisible construct that can neither attack nor be attacked (by conventional means, at least).  It possesses reiatsu, but the ability of El Amo Frío remains in effect - however, the cold of the ability will act in full force, and as such, anyone and everyone nearby will feel the aura of cold emanating from the construct.  The old body is left behind, and depending on the circumstances of Aparición being used, different things may occur.

Provided his body ‘lives’ – as in everything that should function does – then Saelien is entirely capable of returning to it…but only during a short period of time.  Saelien has approximately one day from leaving the body via Aparición to returning to it before the process becomes entirely impossible; after the time limit has passed, as only fitting for the Lord of the Cold, the body will rapidly turn to ice, becoming a glittering statue that will likely never melt, potentially never break, and a perfect image of Saelien himself.  The exception to this is if the body is already dead by the time the limit is up, in which case it will simply disintegrate into dust.  Otherwise, his body is essentially kept in stasis until he returns, or the ice takes over.

Saelien is far from helpless if his body is slain or ruined, however.  The essence that he now is is capable of forming a new body for itself, identical to Saelien’s old form – minus, of course, any injuries or imperfections the last body had at the time of death.  Whilst it does require raw materials, these are easily found – any corpse or corpses of sufficient size can be shaped and moulded into the appropriate form.  In theory, Saelien could use his old, dead body…if it did not turn to dust upon death.  Using his reiatsu (which will be restored over time, thanks to the essence absorbing spiritual particles from the air around it), a perfect body can be formed over the time of one day, at which point Saelien can enter…and so return to the world again in physical form.  These bodies, once created, function exactly the same as Saelien’s previous body would in stasis.

There is a limiting factor in this technique, and that is one of location.  The form that Saelien takes is stable, but is incapable of remaining so outside a high-reishi concentration area for too long.  Only within the Hueco Mundo can Saelien persist in Phantom form - elsewhere, his reiatsu in this form will bleed away until he is eventually nothing.  This takes time, of course, but assuming that Saelien already lost reiatsu before assuming this form, he would not last for much longer than a day in the human world without outside interference.  As such, Saelien will actively search for hollows, arrancar or open garganta that he may use to escape.

While the construct cannot be directly harmed by most techniques, it is not completely unable to interact with the world.  Barriers that would stop the movement of reishi and reiatsu, and materials such as SekkiSekki, do not permit Saelien to pass through - and in fact, SekkiSekki is anathema to him, draining the reserves of his form extremely quickly.  Additionally, techniques such as his own Silentium would be devastating to the Phantom form, once again depleting precious reiatsu reserves.

There is a price to be paid, however, in using this power.  Should Saelien be in a position where the power is necessary (i.e. a position where death is certain otherwise) and his body is destroyed, the new body will be...lacking.  It will bear some differences to the previous form, at first - the hair will be lifeless grey, the eyes will be a less piercing blue - but more importantly, it will be considerably weaker, at the level of a mere Fraccion.  Further uses of the power in life or death situations at this point will result only in minor losses, and his power can slowly be restored over time...but time can only restore his power to the Fraccion level.  His real power is lost as a shapeless form in a shapeless void, space between the worlds, a place that should not be...much like his displaced essence when using Phantom.

To return to his true strength, more drastic measures must be taken.  Saelien has two options - one of these is a permanent fix, which will only come undone should his body be destroyed again, whilst the other is only temporary.  If he needs his true power restored quickly but only for a short time, then Saelien must gather one thousand souls - the type of soul is irrelevant save for one need: there must be at least one human, quincy, hollow and shinigami soul present in the mix.  These souls can be gathered one by one or en mass, and should they be gathered for the purpose of this power, then they will coalesce into Saelien's Zanpakuto.  The blade will glow white once the correct amount of souls have been obtained, and by stabbing himself with the sword - an act similar to the transfer of shinigami powers - Saelien can restore himself to full power.

The price of this act is twofold.  The first is immediate, in that he has stabbed himself with his Zanpakuto.  The second is pain; the souls forcibly added to himself are imprisoned within his own soul, their power leached away, and they will howl, scream, and be in a state of discontent until their power is fully drained and they have no more strength to rage at Saelien.  Thus, until all the power Saelien has obtained is gone, Saelien will be suffering.  Once the power is drained, one by one, the souls Saelien has absorbed will break down and become one with him, like so many other souls have in the past.

The true fix is more complicated, but also requires souls.  As a spirit of death, Saelien requires four shinigami and four arrancar, each carrying their Zanpakuto.  Each must be impaled on their own sword - a piece of their soul or previous self respectively, an act of unwanted self destruction - and Saelien must separate his essence from his body as they die.  Once all are dead, the sacrifice will bring back Saelien's lost power from the ether to which it was lost (with their souls taking its place).  Saelien has sent many of a soul to the dark, and despite this, the price does not change.  The price never changes.

It is important to note that, in a situation where Saelien has had the foresight to generate a new body within three days of losing his current body, the price of this technique will not come into play.

For all the power of this ability, Saelien has never once revealed the true mechanics of it to another – he prefers such things being kept a secret, whilst his near immortal nature can be hinted at yet never outright stated.

(I know that the board is largely death disabled, rendering this ability pointless in a meta-sense, but it's a large part of the character In-Character!)

Name: El Amo Frío (The Cold Lord):
Effect: Saelien possesses a curious ability in El Amo Frío; his reiatsu does not manifest like most.  It is not a crushing pressure, nor it is, as some might expect, some manifestation of frost and ice; to spirits, Saelien is apparently a figure without reiatsu, his reiatsu entirely undetectable by normal means at almost all times.  However, there is instead a different indicator with Saelien; the air around him is permanently colder than it should be; near Saelien, a summers day could become more like a winters day, and a winters day could become like a trip to the Arctic.  Depending on the amount of reiatsu that Saelien is using at any given time, the area of effect of this cold aura changes – but only the area of effect…the area does not become any colder.  When his reiatsu is suppressed fully, only those very close might notice the chill; if he is fighting all out or preparing to release, the cold may well extend a few dozen metres.

There is a certain extra disadvantage, a certain loss of subtlety that comes with going all out - El Amo Frío changes ever so slightly, distorted by the amount of reiatsu.  This distortion in the technique causes a certain amount of the reiatsu to flow out of Saelien as perfectly detectable by normal means - whilst it certainly doesn't give a good indicator of Saelien's strength, it does allow most to sense the presence of Saelien through reiatsu detection.  As a rule, in his sealed form, in actual combat, Saelien's detectable reiatsu is roughly equivalent to that of a seated officer in the Gotei 13.  In his release state, it can vary between that of a Vice Captain or, if a battle requires his full power, then the subtlety of the ability is completely lost and his power will be revealed.

This ability brings a certain other advantage; Saelien himself is highly resistant to cold and ice based techniques; after all, were he not, then his own powers would affect him terribly.  This isn’t to say he is immune, since all techniques contain a certain amount of reiatsu, but they are simply not going to be as effective as they should be.  Weapons made of ice could harm him, for example, but techniques that intend to freeze and chill are going to face issues.

      Name: Ephemeralis
Effect: There was once a time when Saelien possessed hierro, when he had the defences and durability of other arrancar.  However, Saelien abandoned those techniques, forming instead the ability of Ephemeralis that embodies his mentality in fights, and synchronizes with his own devastating style of combat.  The energy that would typically be spent in generating hierro and reinforcing Saelien's body against impacts and damage is instead re-purposed, directed towards offensive attacks and actions.  His blows carry more force, his swords, with their monomolecular edges, are rendered exceptionally lethal, and his damaging techniques possess a higher potency.  In return, however, it must be said that Saelien does not just lack hierro - his body is weaker than what would be expected for one of his strength.

The effect of Ephemeralis is the elimination of the standard arrancar hierro AR defensive bonus, and a further -1 AR penalty to Saelien when defending.  In return, however, Saelien has +1 AR when attacking - both the penalty and bonus stack with his release AR bonus.

Elemental Affinity: Cold (Although his affinity is often mistaken as ice, but there is a sharp difference)

    General Techniques:

      Technique Name: Cessation's Emissary
Technique Description: This technique is a sensing type technique that can replace Pesquisa under specific situations.  It's power is both simple and effective.  Anything that Saelien has personally harmed have had their existence remembered by the power of Cessation's Emissary.  The wound that Saelien has delivered to them must not just be a mere pinprick – it must have been deep and damaging, making any whose imprints exist within Cessation's Emissary those who have, in Saelien's eyes, essentially escaped death.  Whenever any of these beings are within a mile of Saelien, their presence and various features of their being are made known to him without the need for Pesquisa.  Their imprint is lost the moment their life ends, for the most part, but it can fade in time.  Those who are remembered by Cessation's Emissary have one month to escape death; should they succeed, then their presence will be forgotten.

      Technique Effect Chart:

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Lower: Saelien can sense the presence, identity (that is, the technique will tell or remind him exactly who the presence belongs to) and total sum of the reiatsu of the imprinted being.

Opponent is One Tier Lower: Saelien can sense the presence, identity and current reiatsu output of the imprinted being.

Opponent is Equal Tier: Saelien can sense the presence and identity of the imprinted being.

Opponent is One Tier Higher: Saelien can sense the presence of the imprinted being.

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Higher: Saelien can sense the presence of the imprinted being, but the effective range is cut down to two hundred metres.

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Technique Name: Harvest
Technique Description: Saelien is the Cold Lord, but also a being that has delved deep into the essence within souls.  He found a means of separating his own essence from his body...and he knows how to apply that to other beings through the technique of Harvest.  It is not so peaceful, simple and useful to the poor spirit in question as Aparición is to Saelien – those who approach death, or who are massively weaker than Saelien, are vulnerable to Harvest.  Saelien can simply tear the essence - that is, the mind and sum of reiatsu remaining - of a being free from their body once these conditions are fulfilled using either of his hands, at which point he has several options available to him.

The simplest is to just let the essence go – without the stability that Saelien's possesses, such an essence would be as smoke in the wind, blown away and eliminated by even the slightest breeze.  Alternatively, if a suitable vessel is nearby, then Saelien can place the essence into the vessel, potentially granting the being a new lease on life...or a fate worse than death.  The final option is to consume the essence – and when Saelien needs food for means other than the simple enjoyment of eating food, this is the fastest, cleanest way to go about it.  For Saelien, the consumption of these essences has utterly superseded regular soul devouring.

(Character and lore based technique for the most part, not to be used on player generated NPC's or PC's without permission even in situations where the technique could theoretically be used)

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Technique Name: Sword of the Godslayer
Technique Description: A direct, offensive technique.  Saelien imbues one of his swords of ice with a surge of reiatsu, transforming it, the ice cracked and shot through with crimson reiatsu that crackles with red sparks of power.  This has no real charge time to speak of, but it does have a cost – on the technique being used to completion, the ice sword that has been transformed is destroyed.  The ice sword will also be destroyed if removed from Saelien's grip and this technique can only be applied if Saelien is holding one of his swords.  It can only be applied to one sword at a time, even though he usually carries two and finally, the technique itself has a three post cooldown from the point of completion – if the ice sword imbued is destroyed in any way, this cooldown comes into effect.

One might think that the icy sword has been transformed into an even deadlier weapon and they would be correct.  On colliding with something – be it armour, flesh, or an energy attack such as kidou – the new cold sword, this 'Sword of the Godslayer' cuts as the icy sword would normally.  The reiatsu veins that it now possesses are filaments of reiatsu that link back to Saelien, into which he can deliver a stream of power, if he so chooses.  When this stream is unleashed, it will escape through the edge of the sword into whatever has been struck, usually causing destabilisation of energy attacks and terrible destruction against the living.  This effect causes the sword itself to be vaporised.  It should be noted that this effect is not instant and does require a conscious decision on Saelien's part, so a cut from simply swinging his sword in a strike does not give sufficient time for this technique to be utilised.  A stab wound, or a wound in which a sword is lodged, is more appropriate.

Should the sword that is imbued with this power be broken through the efforts of an enemy, then the technique will simply dissipate, the power invested in it lost.

      Technique Effect Chart:

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Lower: Damage largely depends on severity of initial cut before discharge of technique.  At this level, however, even a nick that Saelien acts on will result in major damage, and depending on the location, there is easy potential for limb loss or, if no treatment is given, fatal wounds.  All reiatsu techniques that can be targeted (for example, a large energy attack is easily struck, whilst a hail of smaller energy techniques is not) are destroyed.

Opponent is One Tier Lower: Damage largely depends on severity of initial cut before discharge of technique.  All cuts that would normally be ignored by a being, such as a shallow slash to the forearm can become very dangerous if acted upon, and the target could easily be slain depending on the position of the cut.  All reiatsu techniques that can be targeted (for example, a large energy attack is easily struck, whilst a hail of smaller energy techniques is not) are destroyed.

Opponent is Equal Tier: Damage largely depends on severity of initial cut before discharge of technique.  Any notable wound to a limb (i.e. a deep cut that reaches bone) will result in the loss of the limb, and a notable wound to the body would result in a major, potentially fatal wound without quick treatment.  All reiatsu techniques that can be targeted (for example, a large energy attack is easily struck, whilst a hail of smaller energy techniques is not) are destroyed.

Opponent is One Tier Higher: Due to the higher reiatsu of the opponent, this technique only becomes truly fearsome if the initial wound was dangerous – in which case, this technique will make it all the worse.  Minor to notable wounds will not be significant enough for this technique to enhance them greatly.  Most reiatsu techniques that can be targeted (for example, a large energy attack is easily struck, whilst a hail of smaller energy techniques is not) are destroyed, to a kidou equivalent of 75.  Such destruction is not so clean, and an explosion will be caused.

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Higher: The damage from any cut delivered by Saelien will be increased by this technique, but most of the damage will still come from the initial cut.  Many reiatsu techniques that can be targeted (for example, a large energy attack is easily struck, whilst a hail of smaller energy techniques is not) are destroyed, to a kidou equivalent of 60.  Such destruction is not so clean, and an explosion will be caused.

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Technique Name: Dreadstep
Technique Description: The Dreadstep is a variant of sonido that is much faster, yet carries a certain identifier and warning with it.  Unlike sonido, the Dreadstep does not activate the instant that Saelien decides to use it.  Instead, a wave of cold emanates from Saelien's location, leaving the ground lightly coated in frost, and a Saelien himself is surrounded by a blue aura moments before the movement.  All of this might take a few seconds – enough to render the Dreadstep an approach technique, rather than one for avoiding the opponent.  Saelien can cancel the movement of the Dreadstep at any time by simply moving from the spot – he must remain at the same position (although he can move his upper body) between deciding to activate the technique, and the technique truly activating.

Once activated, however, the Dreadstep is far faster than any normal sonido.  It has a range limit of fifty metres, but Saelien's movement to any area within that range is almost instant and Saelien can act immediately out of the Dreadstep.  However, it must be noted that unlike shunpo or sonido, Dreadstep is a completely linear technique.  It would not be possible for Saelien to, say, Dreadstep directly behind an opponent – for they would be in his movement path.

      Technique Effect Chart:

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Lower: If Dreadstep activates, Saelien will be at his chosen location before these individuals realise he has moved.

Opponent is One Tier Lower: If Dreadstep activates, such individuals will not be able to really see the movement, but they will know Saelien has moved.

Opponent is Equal Tier: If Dreadstep activates, Saelien's movement will be a blur at best to these individuals.

Opponent is One Tier Higher: If Dreadstep activates, such individuals will likely be shocked by the speed, but should be able to react if alert.

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Higher:  If Dreadstep activates, such individuals will likely be shocked by the speed, but should be able to react.

Saelien

Saelien

    Ressurrecion

    Zanpakutou Type: Dagger

Zanpakutou Appearance: Saelien’s Zanpakuto is, quite obviously from the first glance, not a weapon designed to be used much in combat. Taking the form of an elegant stiletto without a guard, the sword Cocytus is best used to stab opponents, if it must be used at all; the lack of any form of guard limits the potential applications of the weapon, after all. Seemingly forged from pure silver, the blade itself is perfect, unmarred, with sharp edges and a wicked point. The grip of the Zanpakuto has an intricate design, also formed from lustrous silver, and at the end of the weapon, a small sphere of sapphire is inset. Most often, Saelien carries the weapon hidden within his clothes. All things considered, however, Saelien is quite proficient in using the blade to fight with, so if a release is overkill, yet his constructs of ice fail, the weapon may well be used.

    Ressurrecion Name: Cocytus

Ressurrecion Representation: Saelien's release represents the cold, and the death that comes with it.

Ressurrecion Appearance: Requiring no special action other than holding the Zanpakuto in his hand, Saelien’s release occurs the moment the words are spoken…and when those words are said, a great sphere of whirling, flowing blue energy envelops the arrancar, and remains there as protection, as well as a barrier to the inquisitive gaze of curious eyes, for the few moments it takes for the release to be complete.  At this point, the energy is re-absorbed by Saelien.  Saelien’s clothes from his sealed form remain in his release state, but the colours change completely; all the colours are drained away to leave his clothes a solid white.  His once blue eyes are transformed, the irises now becoming a deep red instead, returning to blue only when Saelien is using a great deal of reiatsu.  Saelien's icy blue hair becomes black, a sharp contrast against his white clothes.

While the release is in effect, a blue glow covers Saelien - mere aesthetic, yet it leaves an ethereal trail wherever he may move.  Saelien's hollow mask is a curiosity – it remains a pendant in his release form, but Saelien can change it to become an expressionless mask to conceal his face at any point.  Overall, there are few changes to Saelien when he releases, a testament to how close to human he once was as a hollow.

This form is, unsurprisingly, not without weapons; upon releasing, two blades identical to those Saelien carries around whilst sealed are created (for they are the very same type of blade, they simply do not vanish when the release does, making them useful to keep around).  The blades are remarkably thin, almost transparent, and slightly curved, each possessing a single, monomolecular edge.  The rest of the weapons are more similar to regular swords, albeit made of ‘ice’ – circular guards and normal enough hilts, although the hilts lack wrappings of any sort.  As a side effect of the release, the ability of El Amo Frío is amplified; anyone in the nearby vicinity will feel the cold, even if Saelien is not pressed during the combat.  If Saelien is under pressure, then the effect of El Amo Frío can easily extend to over a mile radius.  The cold no longer manifests as just cold, however – there is a certain wind, a light, chilling breeze, and the cold itself is more, but not dangerously, intense.

    Ressurrecion Ability:

Heat Death: If Saelien is forced to bring his true form into the world, then the world shall suffer.  Inanimate objects nearby Saelien – ranging from the ground, to trees, to the bodies of the dead or the living bodies of humans without special powers – are warped by his reiatsu to become his own special brand of ice.  Wherever he stands is most fiercely affected, but the radius of this power extends for twenty metres omni-directionally.  However, beings possessing reiatsu, even the weakest shinigami, are immune to this effect – it is only truly the environment that bends the knee to Saelien's presence.  Ice formed in this manner can be manipulated by Saelien's technique, 'Yermo Congelado'.

    Ressurrrecion Techniques:

Technique Name: Yermo Congelado (Frozen Wasteland)
Technique Description: Yermo Congelado is the main ability Saelien possesses in his released form and, together with the reiatsu boost and the genesis of his swords, it is all that is often required.  The ice that forms Saelien’s swords, and that is formed through Heat Death is not, as some might suspect, frozen water, but instead pure reiatsu given an icy form through Saelien’s abilities.  As a consequence, Saelien's ice is beyond the control of other ice users – but in turn, their ice is also beyond his.  Naturally, his ice has rather different properties to frozen water; it doesn’t melt easily (for a very specific reason), and is surprisingly hard and strong.

The function of this ability is control.  Saelien has a certain degree of control over the ice - all of the ice - generated in his release; he cannot make the ice dance or fly, but he can change the state the reiatsu is in at will. For example, in a simple application, he could turn shattered fragments into a freezing gas or liquid, or any liquid produced to gas or solid. It is important to note that he only changes the state; he cannot cause the reiatsu to take forms other than those it would take naturally in the state it is in.  For this reason, heat based techniques are not as effective as one might expect, for Saelien can force his ice to remain a solid – doing so requires concentration and a reiatsu upkeep that may not be viable to sustain.  However, through careful micromanagement and creativity, Saelien can utilise this power to reach maximum lethality.

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Technique Name: The Ultimate Edge
Technique Description: Saelien’s weaponry formed through his release cannot be considered normal.  He eschews the blades of regular beings in favour of his own brand; a sword, in Saelien’s eyes, is a tool of destruction.  It is designed for killing - this is it’s purpose.  All other purposes are secondary, perhaps even unnecessary, to the truth of the sword.  As such, blades that allow one to block, that allow one to engage in fancy duels - these are things that Saelien has no time for.  Saelien’s blades, formed through simply holding out his hand and creating one, or forming one from ice already on the battlefield, are monomolecular in nature - brittle, yet horrifyingly sharp.

The thin edge of the ice blades means that even a small amount of invested reiatsu results in a deadly concentration, meaning that in terms of cutting and slicing ability, the swords are frightening indeed.  They might not slice through Zanpakuto’s easily, but they certainly can cut through most armour…and cutting normal flesh and bone is no more difficult than cutting air.  This comes at a price, however – in putting everything towards offence, defence is sacrificed entirely.  Clashing blades with an opponent will usually take a chip out of the blade in question; a blow too fierce, to strong, will shatter the ice blade completely.  It is entirely possible for Saelien to bisect attacks such as certain ceros with his icy blades…but if he chooses to do so, most ceros will prove sufficient to destroy the blade in question.  Of important note is that these weapons are at their most dangerous when Saelien is holding them, thus providing reiatsu from his body like a current.  If removed from his grip for sufficient time, the thinness of the blades makes them absurdly easy to shatter.

      Technique Effect Chart:

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Lower: Flesh, bone and armour provides no resistance to standard ice blades formed through Saelien's release.  Zanpakuto will be damaged by direct hits from swords.  Saelien's ice will be extremely difficult to damage.

Opponent is One Tier Lower: Flesh, bone and armour provides no resistance to standard ice blades formed through Saelien's release.  Zanpakuto may be damaged by direct hits from swords.  Fierce blows from the opponent will damage the ice.

Opponent is Equal Tier: Flesh and bone provides no resistance to standard ice blades formed through Saelien's release, the strongest armour and defensive techniques will provide some small defence.  Normal blows from the opponent will cause damage to the ice.

Opponent is One Tier Higher: Flesh and bone provides no resistance to standard ice blades formed through Saelien's release, but decent armour/defensive techniques will help resist strikes.  Most blows from the opponent will cause damage to the ice.

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Higher: Flesh provides no resistance to standard ice blades formed through Saelien's release, but bone will sometimes stop the swords, and armour/defensive techniques will be useful.  The opponent will have little difficulty in damaging the ice.

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Technique Name: Endless Despair
Technique Description: By mixing the effects of the release ability of Heat Death and Saelien’s own natural cold body, the technique of Endless Despair was created.  The power of Heat Death can be temporarily focused to a smaller area clinging closely to Saelien’s skin, creating a terrifyingly cold aura around the Cold Lord.  Whilst this could be used for offensive purposes - touching Saelien physically whilst this technique is active would be unwise - the primary power of Endless Despair is to cease any attempt to stop Saelien, to halt his progress.  It is to end any attempt at hope.  Abilities and techniques that seek to hold an individual in place, that seek to bind and restrict are what Endless Despair is designed to truly combat.

As such powers often manifest close to or around the one they seek to halt, they often find themselves within the range of Endless Despair.  In such an event, without delay, these techniques are frozen and thus subject to Yermo Congelado.  Barriers and the like that do not touch Saelien in their standard purpose are not exempt; Saelien need but physically touch them in order to render them mere constructs of ice.

Whilst Endless Despair is active, Heat Death is deactivated, and will resume on the cessation of this technique.  Endless Despair lingers for two posts (including the post in which it is activated) and has a three post cooldown.

      Technique Effect Chart:

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Lower: Binding and barrier arts will be frozen if they come into close contact with Saelien.

Opponent is One Tier Lower: Binding and barrier arts will be frozen if they come into close contact with Saelien.

Opponent is Equal Tier: Most binding and barrier arts will be frozen if they come into close contact with Saelien.  Bankai level arts will withstand the cold for a few moments.

Opponent is One Tier Higher: Most binding and barrier arts will be frozen if they come into close contact with Saelien.  Bankai level arts will resist the cold, and will be structurally weakened but not frozen.

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Higher: Most binding and barrier arts will be frozen if they come into close contact with Saelien.  Bankai level arts will resist the cold.

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Technique Name: Abismo Frío (Cold Abyss)
Technique Description: Ice exists within the domain of the cold, and so it is that Saelien is capable of generating ice under his own will, with his own reiatsu.  This technique involves a sphere of freezing, white reiatsu, laced through with shifting particles of ice betraying the nature of the technique, being formed in one of Saelien’s hands.  The orb forms in approximately the same space of time a regular cero would.  In and of itself, the orb does nothing - it is the mere harbinger of the Cold Abyss, and what happens is determined by one of two scenarios; Saelien can release the power within the orb in a direction, or he can drop the orb to the ground.

Both of these essentially have the same effect; the location of that effect is what is changed.  By releasing the power in a direction, Saelien is able to unleash a large wave of ice in the shape of a cero at a target, the rushing, glacial construct aiming to overwhelm, envelop and crush all in it’s path.  If the orb is dropped to the ground, a pillar of ice of equal volume will form from the ground.

This technique has a one post cooldown.

Technique Name: Ardor y Alcozar (Fire and Ice)
Technique Description: Ice is not the only thing that Saelien can create during his release; he is also capable of creating a rather odd substance.  Whilst the frozen reiatsu is cold, it is certainly not the coldest of Saelien’s techniques, and is often not ideal for freezing his enemies – Ardor y Alcozar, on the other hand, is.  From his body (but more often than not, just his hands), Saelien can unleash pale blue fire; be it a steady flame, a burning stream or a ball of fire  – but of course, this is like no earthly fire.  Ardor y Alcozar does not burn; the exact opposite, in fact – Ardor y Alcozar instead chills and freezes.  Anything that does not possess reiatsu will be frozen solid merely by being near the flames of Ardor y Alcozar; things possessing reiatsu, however, have more resilience, depending on the amount.

In the case of actual constructs of reiatsu, such as cero, Ardor y Alcozar is quite capable of flash-freezing them solid – depending, of course, on the strength, size, speed and nature of the technique.  As a general rule, regular ceros are susceptible, as are kidou below the region of seventy (those with an aspect of fire will freeze more slowly, however); techniques of a similar strength can also be flash-frozen.  Attacks that are more powerful than this will just be frozen more slowly, but are immune to the flash-freezing properties of this technique.

In an additional layer of complexity, the size of a technique can affect the speed at which it is frozen, and can even shift the typical maximum value for flash-freezing to occur.  That is to say, a larger technique that engulfs a wide area at a rank of 60 can avoid the flash freezing aspect of the technique, whilst a level 80 attack that is small and easily enveloped would be frozen.  Frozen constructs, having once been of reiatsu, are converted by Ardor y Alcozar to a substance that Saelien can manipulate through Yermo Congelado.  The exception to this is ice created from frozen regions on living beings; this ice cannot be manipulated unless the being has died.

Ardor y Alcozar is a sustained technique, for the most part - once activated, it can be used freely (beyond reiatsu costs) for a limited time.  Saelien may use Ardor y Alzozar for three posts, at which point the technique will be on a three post cooldown.  Ceasing the technique sooner will reduce the cooldown by an equivalent amount (that is, if the technique was deactivated after one post, the cooldown would be one post).

      Technique Effect Chart:

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Lower: Areas of the body touched by the technique will be converted into ice. Provided no further exposure occurs within three posts, this ice can be overpowered by the reiatsu of the body, reverting instead to heavy frostbite. Full exposure will kill NPC's valid for death.

Opponent is One Tier Lower: Areas of the body touched by the technique for a few seconds will be converted into ice. Provided no further exposure occurs within two posts, this ice can be overpowered by the reiatsu of the body, reverting instead to heavy frostbite.

Opponent is Equal Tier: Areas of the body exposed to the technique for a long duration (greater than five seconds, or long enough for the opponent to have consciously made the decision to remain in the flames), or several times, will be converted into ice. Provided no further exposure occurs within one post, this ice can be overpowered by the reiatsu of the body, reverting instead to heavy frostbite.

Opponent is One Tier Higher: Areas of the body exposed to the technique for a long duration, or several times, will be heavily frostbitten.

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Higher:Areas of the body exposed to the technique for a long duration, or several times, will be frostbitten.

      -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Technique Name: Silentium (Silence)
Technique Description: Silentium, Saelien's true sword and most terrifying power, can be summoned to dispatch those foes that simply refuse to fall before his normal swords of ice. The sword itself appears similar to Saelien’s blades, but longer, more akin to a regular nodachi, and unlike the other swords it is not simply plain ice. Silentium is etched with various lines and grooves, forming no real pattern beyond a random web of seeming imperfections in the blade – but of course, these are not imperfections. Also unlike Saelien's usual weaponry, Silentium is most certainly not brittle - breaking it is next to impossible, for it is tightly bound to Saelien's soul. Its summoning process is quite the spectacle – the sword forms from pure ice in Saelien’s hand, with the hilt and guard naturally forming first, accompanied by a sharp drop in the temperature of the surrounding area, and the utter silencing of the winds formed through Saelien’s release.

This is merely a by-product of the weapon, rather than its true ability. Silentium's edge is wickedly sharp, and if one looks at it for long enough, they might notice a faint yet distinct blue glow that occasionally pulses along it. This is yet another mild indicator that the sword is nothing like a regular sword, yet one can raise their shield or sword, and they would find that the sword is as sharp as the other swords that Saelien wields – dangerous, but perhaps not deadlier than expected. Those who dismiss the cosmetic differences are those who will certainly fall prey to Silentium...but to understand the truth of this blade, the only solution is to let it pierce the body.

Against all materials that it can cut, this sword does not in fact leave a mark – Silentium cuts the essence of a being, their 'true' spirit, rather than simply their spiritual body. More appropriately, it severs the connection between the reishi that it cuts, and the reiatsu and reiryoku of the spirit.  There is usually no difference between a wound delivered by Silentium and a normal sword in terms of the damage – a severed limb is a severed limb, a pierced heart is a pierced heart – but there is no visible wound. A wound to the essence of a soul will heal over time, depending on the severity of the wound, but healing via simple techniques like physical regeneration is not possible, for the body itself sustains no injury. Due to this, the wounds of Silentium can be considered less immediately threatening than a normal sword wound, for death by exsanguination is impossible.

Furthermore, this fearsome effect can even extend to the techniques of others – powerful blasts of energy and the like that are bound together by reiryoku are quite susceptible to the hungry edge of Silentium. The sword has much the effect that would be expected when swung against attacks such as cero – where a Zanpakuto might block the attack or cleave it in two, Silentium typically passes through without sound, for the soul of such techniques is as dry paper before an open flame to the blade, readily severed. Techniques struck in this manner by Silentium might continue to exist to the eyes, but all ties that hold them together are severed, and they quickly disperse into silenced reishi.

All of this might make Silentium an obvious choice for Saelien, something to be selected over regular swords in all encounters. This is not so, for two significant reasons. The first is obvious – the strength of a soul determines how badly they are wounded by Silentium. Those with a spirit much greater than Saelien's own, those with a vast amount of reiryoku, can resist the effects of the sword and even banish the effects from their soul should they have the will. But if such individuals are weaker in their body, then more earthly weapons would be chosen over Silentium...

The real drawback to Silentium comes from it's nature and origin. The sword is bound to his soul, and whilst this gives it great power, there is a simple fact that to summon it, Saelien introduces a...gap in his very soul. The sword is not so poorly constructed that damaging it also damages Saelien, nor can it act as a conduit for striking Saelien's spirit, but rather, it may only exist outside Saelien's soul for a short time before it must return, lest Saelien begin to suffer effects much like what Silentium delivers unto others. Silentium can exist for four posts in the outside world before Saelien begins to suffer damage – during this time, the carvings on the sword will begin to glow blue, and the pulses at the edge of the sword will occur more frequently.

Saelien can banish the sword at a whim, much like he can summon it – he does not need to be touching Silentium in order to do this. Returning the sword to his soul does not reset the timer on it – rather, for each post it remains within him, another post worth of time in the real world is refreshed. In other words, if Silentium remained active for the full four posts and was then banished for four posts, it could be used again for the maximum time.

      Technique Effect Chart:

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Lower: Silentium does not just cut the essence of a soul where it strikes – it sunders it completely, ruining the link between the reiryoku and reishi and typically crippling or killing the target depending on where they are cut. Silentium can cut down the reiryoku-focused attacks of these individuals.

Opponent is One Tier Lower: Silentium cuts the essence of a soul along the line of the cut.  The effects can be dispelled after ten posts if the wound is incomplete (that is to say, a limb was not severed.  Such a wound can only be healed post-thread).  Silentium can cut down the reiryoku-focused attacks of these individuals.

Opponent is Equal Tier: Silentium cuts the essence of a soul along the line of the cut.  The effects can be dispelled after eight posts if the wound is incomplete (that is to say, a limb was not severed.  Such a wound can only be healed post-thread)Silentium can cut down the reiryoku-focused attacks of these individuals.

Opponent is One Tier Higher: Silentium cuts the essence of a soul along the line of the cut.  The effects can be dispelled after six posts if the wound is incomplete (that is to say, a limb was not severed.  Such a wound can only be healed post-thread). Silentium can cut down the reiryoku-focused attacks of these individuals below a kidou region of 70.

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Higher: Silentium only damages the essence of a soul along the line of the cut, as the soul will resist the usual effect and weaken it – an arm 'severed' by Silentium will feel weak and stiff, but will still function, for example. Additionally, the effects can be dispelled after four posts if the wound is incomplete (that is to say, a limb was not severed.  Such a wound can only be healed post-thread). Silentium can cut down the reiryoku-focused attacks of these individuals below a kidou region of 50.

    History:

    Part 1: Cryogenesis

Saelien’s mortal life can be summed up swiftly; he lived briefly, and died painfully.  Born into extreme poverty, with no father – the man having died already in some conflict, some war – and a sick mother with one foot in the grave, the baby that would one day become Saelien perished from a combination of disease, thirst and hunger…a rather unpleasant death indeed.  Perhaps some children could have moved on to Soul Society, perhaps shinigami could be quick and efficient in performing the konso, saving their souls, but alas, hunger was all Saelien knew whilst alive, and the spirit did not remain a plus for long before the chain corroded, and it became a hollow.  A baby it might have been in life, but hollow instincts, the strength that came with being a hollow, and the immense hunger of the creature drove it into a frenzy, feeding on humans, souls, and other hollows without hesitation.

Saelien was a simple hollow, with unnatural white skin, crimson eyes, and, as his set of powers, plates of ice protecting his body.  For now, the hollow did not have much intelligence, but it did have strength; strength born from being a hollow, strength enhanced from consuming many souls upon being reborn.  It didn’t stop eating, feasting, until the shinigami started to come after it.  At first, it didn’t think much of them, but when one cut it, Saelien fled; it felt the pain, and it associated the pain with danger.  The shinigami pursued of course, and a real fight began between the shinigami and the hollow…and for all the valiant, brave efforts of the death god, it lost the clash and was devoured by an injured Saelien.  For a few days, the hollow retreated, hiding itself until its wounds could heal, eating whatever prey it could.

Of course, had this cycle continued, Saelien would have eventually, inevitably perished; a lone hollow could never defy the shinigami for long, especially one that was not cunning, could barely even think beyond the need for food, and only had strength.  No, what furthered the life of Saelien was a most fortuitous event, and one that was also equal in its…oddity.  The more powerful menos rarely had any reason to be on Earth, since the strong spirits worth devouring could always be found in the Hueco Mundo, but regardless, an Adjucas was on Earth…and a powerful one at that.  Intelligent, ruthless…but for some reason, when it saw Saelien, who was a small hollow, strong for its size yet obviously young, mindless, it took pity.  Rather than destroying Saelien, or perhaps even consuming him, the Adjucas instead decided to take the younger, new hollow back to the Hueco Mundo…deciding, for some reason, to care for the hollow.

Under the care of the Adjucas, Saelien grew, not only in size and power, but also in mind.  By the time twenty years had passed, Saelien had become something terrifying; a hollow possessing a frightening mind, powerful for its age – the baby hollow of the past was no more.  Despite this, Saelien did not part ways with its mentor and father figure; at that time, Saelien was nothing like the creature he is now, and it cared for the Adjucas, saw the benefit of remaining with it.  It got the leftovers, and for a mere hollow, not even menos, the leftovers from an Adjucas’ meal was something immense.  The leftovers allowed Saelien to grow stronger more quickly than just hunting might ever have; and through training with the Adjucas, Saelien ensured that it had the skills to match the power.  It might not have fought other hollows to the death in years, but it was important that it could, that Saelien did not grow soft.

As it turned out, the Adjucas had taken in Saelien not only out of pity – an emotion it felt very little of – but also as a fairly clever plan for the future; it had seen some potential in Saelien, as well as (more importantly) a hollow that had yet to form any allegiances.  It sought to establish itself as a parent figure…thus earning the chance of a truly loyal accomplice.  Other allies amongst the hollows could be terribly fickle, after all.  And this plan was rather successful, for Saelien was willing to help and had no intentions of ever betraying his ‘father’…and was also steadily growing more and more powerful.  Still nothing compared to Vaeston, the Adjucas that was his ‘father’, but mighty in his own way.  Eventually, Saelien decided to part ways with Vaeston for a time, venturing into the desert alone to seek prey, to seek the thrill of the hunt.

A few years alone in the desert was all that Saelien required to advance to the next stage of hollow evolution; a Gillian menos.  The transformation itself occurred rather suddenly, however…in pursuing a lone hollow, Saelien found himself amongst a horde of ravenous hollows – naturally, he consumed them all.  As a Gillian, he looked like any other…save his mask, which was hellish and coated in frost.  Now rather slow and cumbersome, but knowing from Vaeston what was to come after being a Gillian, after casting aside the useless, giant body, Saelien began to feast on hollows in unprecedented amounts; regular hollows and other Gillians, and soon…he became an Adjucas.

At this time, two decades since leaving Vaeston and now one of the stronger hollows in the Hueco Mundo by merit of being an Adjucas, Saelien traversed the desert, searching for him.  As an Adjucas, he could freeze others, he was fast, and he was quite sane.  Quite sane indeed, unlike many of his brethren.  During the journey, Saelien killed and ate any hollow that crossed his path, but more out of need to feed than anything else.  Saelien was strong, but also content.  Becoming strong, the quest to be the strongest, didn’t matter to him…Vasto Lorde was not his goal, only to be reunited with the hollow that saved him.  And yet, whilst it may not have been his goal, it was what he achieved in the end.

It happened during the greatest battle at that point in Saelien's life.  As a powerful Adjucas, he encountered one of those fabled Vasto Lorde of the Hueco Mundo, and some primal desire within him drove him to fight the beast, to see if he with all his strength and cunning could take down a legend.  As it happened, he could.  It was a ferocious battle, to be sure, and Saelien sustained many injuries, some of them serious, but in the end, his cold blades cut down the Vasto Lorde, and he devoured his opponent.  That meal was what prompted the transformation into a Vasto Lorde, and Saelien, after testing out his new body, was confident of his own invincibility.  Who existed that could possibly challenge him now?  He had killed a Vasto Lorde before becoming one, and now that he was one, he very much doubted that they would ever be able to stop him...

Despite this, he continued his search for Vaeston.  Oh, he knew he had surpassed Vaeston long ago, no doubt, but he still felt some compassion, some reason to be reunited with the one who had given him this glorious opportunity, so Saelien wandered the Hueco Mundo.  It was a journey that was in itself a tale of absolute bloodshed – Saelien, at this stage, cared nothing for the hollows around him and did not think twice about swinging his blades to cut one down.  He did not see how they could be useful, and he did not understand any purpose – beyond serving as poor meals – that other hollows could have if they remained alive and breathing.  His strikes were continuous and thoughtless across the sands, and word of him spread.  Nothing came from it then, but his tale as a hollow would have some ramifications later in his life...

But, after near a century of wandering, Saelien found Vaeston…but he was never able to speak to Vaeston again, for the hollow that was his ‘father’ died.

Yes, Saelien arrived just in time to witness the blow that killed Vaeston.  Since Saelien had last met Vaeston, the Adjucas had become immensely powerful, above most other hollows in the Hueco Mundo.  It surprised Saelien, truly, for Vaeston was near as powerful as he had been shortly before becoming a Vasto Lorde.  Yet Vaeston was no Vasto Lorde – he had not kept up with Saelien.  However, only a select few could have fought Vaeston, and even fewer could have killed him.  And as testament to that strength, bodies were littered around the sand…corpses belonging not to hollows, but instead creatures like humans, with broken masks…things that Saelien would later discover were called arrancar.  They had come to kill Vaeston, and all but one died, for they had been terribly weak compared to him.  Saelien saw Vaeston as the last walked forward; a titan of a man, clad in rust-hued armour and wielding an immense golden sword.  There was no fight; faster than Saelien could see, the golden sword cut through the air and smote Vaeston, slicing him in two and instantly killing him.

Proof, if ever proof was needed, of the superiority of the arrancar.

Saelien rushed to the scene – his reiatsu was, thanks to his abilities, impossible to detect, thus he hoped to catch the giant by surprise…and whilst he did, it did not truly matter.  The clash between him and the giant was not a glorious battle to be remembered forever, and the event, to this day, remains a sore spot on Saelien's pride, if only a gentle pain.  The giant was unphased by Saelien’s icy attacks, and felled him with a blow too fast for even Saelien to register.  The pommel of the golden sword struck Saelien’s mask, shattering it and knocking him unconscious.  When Saelien finally awoke, he was surprised to find himself alive…but he was also surprised to find that he was no longer a hollow.

He was like the dead bodies, like the titan who killed Vaeston.

    Arrancar.

How long did Saelien spend lingering at the site of carnage, where the bodies of fallen men and women, the body of Vaeston…where each and every one of them began to dissolve?  New thoughts had entered his mind, thoughts about his new form, his newfound powers…a momentary thought of seeking vengeance, soon discarded.  The figure responsible for everything was, so he thought, beyond Saelien’s abilities, and he did not have the desire to improve to the point of being able to defeat it.  That would take far too much effort, too much time wasted for one, pointless goal, for what would be left for him after vengeance was found, after the other arrancar was dead?  Nothing, absolutely nothing but ashes.  He had never managed to speak to Vaeston again, and after some time to think, Saelien merely shrugged his shoulders and walked away.  No use mourning the loss; hollows died every day in the Hueco Mundo.

    That was the beginning.

    Part 2: Hope

Saelien quickly discovered that people like him, like arrancar, were not a welcome sight in the Hueco Mundo.  Hollows disliked them intensely, half seeing something unnatural, others seeing a being willing to throw away their pride, throw away the grand quest of becoming Vasto Lorde to take another option towards power.  Saelien was both a Vasto Lorde and an arrancar and they were such…worthless creatures.  Hollows attacked Saelien daily, but now, Saelien was different.  New powers, and new weapons.  His blades of icy reiatsu parted hollow flesh with ease, slaying the creatures that had once been his kin so easily, so effortlessly.  A few centuries were spent, nay, wasted, in such actions; killing, killing…more killing.  They were acts of slaughter that made even his time as a hollow Vasto Lorde look peaceful – Saelien left countless bodies in his wake.  The powers of his arrancar body were discovered piece by piece; first, he began to control his new strength, then he began to master his release, to control the enhanced powers that he had once wielded as a hollow.

Eventually, Saelien grew bored.  It was clear that hollows were such…predictable creatures.  No more than animals.  Every one of them sought power, and not one of them deserved to wield it.  The actions of his ‘father’ were now clear to Saelien, and he found Vaeston to be a laughable being.  Trying to save himself, give himself more power, through an ally he could trust…well, now Saelien was free of that, and free of the shackles of being a hollow.  As an arrancar, his mind was clearer than ever.  His strength awe inspiring.  With some thought, Saelien was able to discern the nature of being arrancar; the sword at his side was a Zanpakuto, a shinigami-like tool.  He appeared human; a remarkable, almost inhuman human, but human nonetheless.  Shinigami powers had something to do with it all.  Of course, what he truly knew of shinigami came from what Vaeston told him.  That was not enough.  And the white sands of the Hueco Mundo meant little to him any more…so Saelien left, and entered the mortal world again.

For a time, Saelien simply relaxed in the mortal world.  Humans, he found, were much more interesting than hollows.  Hollows scurried and scuttled and crept around in the Hueco Mundo, wanting to kill each other for food, having no desire to work together for any one goal.  Here, though, things were clearly different, for humans gathered in armies, built might cities and civilisations.  They worshipped gods, murdered each other in the night, organised great public events of execution…these things were all new to Saelien, and he was content to watch and learn.  Shinigami didn’t hunt for him; his power to make his reiatsu invisible had, thankfully, carried over from his days as a hollow.  No, the only thing that could alert anyone was the cold that travelled with him as he walked, and humans were superstitious, god fearing creatures.  Those he was close to put such things up to those divine beings.  All the better for Saelien.

But he was a ghost, invisible to all save a very rare few, the humans with spiritual powers, and they were scattered in small numbers across the world.  Amusing – and enlightening – as it was to observe the human world, the world that he had never really been a part of, there was little to do.  Nothing to speak to, nothing to, if he were so inclined, fight.  And so, eventually, Saelien decided to return to the deserts of his true home.

That was when he met her, and changed his mind.

Saelien was not just powerful.  He had refined his ability in combat to be something unsurpassed, a swordsman of untouchable skill, but one day he encountered a female arrancar in the human world, together with a small group of her allies and friends, and he challenged him to a duel.  She was like him in many ways – powerful, confident, and breathtakingly attractive.  They fought to a standstill, and Saelien was more than impressed.  He was infatuated with this figure, this being that somehow managed to match him in combat.  She too found a kindred spirit in Saelien, and so they decided to join one another.  Saelien entered her group, and was eventually given the position of leader.  They travelled the human world, occasionally venturing into the Hueco Mundo, and they lived a good life.

Sometimes, members of their group would leave.  In addition to Saelien and the one who fought him – the female arrancar Tabetha that was now his partner – there were other powerful figures in their group who desired to make a name for themselves personally.  Sarvra, a clever brute with unbreakable bones.  En'dis, a remarkable lady with the power to manipulate souls.  Those two left one day, leaving Saelien and Tabetha as the strongest – and really, the only powerful beings – in their group.

    Then the calamity happened.

    Part 3: The Strongest

It was a day when the rain was falling that a new arrancar of unimaginable strength approached Saelien's group.  He called himself Fjorsak Martial, and even at the first glimpse, Saelien could tell that he was even more powerful than the titan who had made him become an arrancar.  Fjorsak intended to destroy Saelien's group for fun, for his own entertainment...and Tabetha did not plan on allowing him.  She made the first attack, attempting to slay Fjorsak quickly, and she was struck to the ground with a horrible crunch of bones.  Saelien attempted to defeat Fjorsak, and met the same fate.  The other arrancar was blindingly fast and overwhelmingly strong.

When Saelien awoke, Tabetha was gone, and all but one of the others in their group was dead.  The last survivor – critically wounded – informed Saelien that Fjorsak had walked away unscathed, that she did not know if Tabetha was alive or dead.  She asked Saelien to get revenge for them, and Saelien – who until now had no purpose in his life – was filled with the fires of vengeance.  He left the last member to die, left behind the bodies of all those who had been friends and family, and sought out Fjorsak and any loyal to him.

Saelien was reborn within those flames of vengeance.  His mighty skill was tempered, and he became a being that lived to kill, not to fight.  Hundreds fell before his blades in his quest, but his own body was terribly wounded over the countless fights.  Every time he looked around his killing fields, he inevitably bore a wound that would become a new scar.  For all his power, for all his skill, he would need something to keep his body alive long enough to kill Fjorsak.  Saelien thought of little else but killing Fjorsak, and it changed him fundamentally.  He had no time for others.  He had no time for those who could not help him.  Anyone who could help him was but a tool in his quest.  And his quest now included making his body tougher.

He did not want mere defence.  He first looked into the path of regeneration.  He found all the limits of that path through slaughtering so many well-known regenerating hollows and arrancar, eventually culminating in the death of the one known as Esper.  A self proclaimed ruler of the sands, Esper was a powerful arrancar, a man of influence much like Fjorsak, and a man who claimed to be an enemy of Fjorsak.  He wanted to help Saelien, and he was willing to teach him regeneration, but Saelien had already seen regeneration fail for so many arrancar.  He wished to see if Esper possessed a stronger variety, for if he did not, then regeneration would never serve Saelien.  Esper complied by allowing Saelien to cut him...but it was not enough.

Saelien's cold nature drove him to fight Esper.  That man was nearly as strong as Saelien himself, a potent threat with his regeneration, yet after a fierce fight, he had fall all the same. The fact that Esper could die despite his strength told Saelien that regeneration was far too flawed to ever be relied upon, no matter how potent it was.

Saelien then spent one hundred years wandering the deserts, musing over life and existence.  Then a thought crossed his mind.  Saelien saw that immortal, youthful life, as granted by being an arrancar, was so flawed.  Yes, he could live forever, in theory.  But he could be wounded, could be poisoned, could die a painful death that way.  If he ever wanted to rise and make use of his immortality, he had to ascend beyond the rest.  Not in power – even the strongest could be felled to a well placed dagger in the back – but in form.  True immortality, the real quest – Vasto Lorde was what hollows set their sights on, but every being craved eternal life.  Saelien was willing to test the possibility of such.

Now his wanderings had a purpose.  Time was invested in this new endeavour; other hollows were captured, their abilities analysed, their bodies tortured until they revealed everything they knew, and then they were killed to prevent anything from spreading, any news, any warnings.  His hunt soon brought him on the path of an old accomplice, En'dis.  She had heard disturbing tales about Saelien – Esper had been respected, and his death was one that had deeply upset En'dis.  Knowing that bloodshed and violence would not get what he wanted out of En'dis, Saelien opted for a different route.

It was so easy.  Cold and dispassionate as he was inside, Saelien somehow found the power to smile, to tell dark and terrible lies, and seduced the lady.  Their old friendship meant nothing to him now, but as a tool and a woman, she had purpose for Saelien.  Yet as he stayed with En'dis, the fires of vengeance cooled, and he began to enjoy his time there.  He did not feel the need to rush away and confront Fjorsak, for En'dis, fool she might have been when facing Saelien's words and smile, was a fine person, highly trustworthy.

The two of them explored the potential within souls deeper than anyone else, and over the years, they were able to create some extremely potent abilities.  Saelien created his ring, Mors Anulus, and then in secret, he used their research to create two techniques.  He did so in secret for he had grand ideas – he had finally seen the potential for immortality and he would not have anyone, not even En'dis, share in the prize.  The first creation was his dreaded sword, Silentium, and the second was a new and unique technique – Aparición.  He separated his essence from his body, and was able to walk the sands invisible, immortal…and wholly useless.  There was no way to refine the technique, to allow him to attack whilst in such a form.  By the time Saelien discovered the great flaws to Aparición, he found another – his body had frozen over.

Was he destined to spend the rest of his days as a shade of his former self?  Immortal, invulnerable, and powerless?

    No.

Saelien would not allow it.  Time was on his side, after all – he had all the time in the world to figure out an answer.  And an answer he found.  Three days drifting as a spirit, he discovered – in a bout of sudden rage – that his reiatsu, impossible to focus properly into techniques as a phantom, had an effect on dead bodies when he was close…very close.  He researched that further, and found that, when he applied his reiatsu to corpses, they would shift – slowly, yes, but noticeably – to his previous form, his proper body.  He spent a day then fixing a corpse to look identical to his body, and when he found the result suitable, Saelien merely touched the new body…and woke up, staring at the moonlit sky of the Hueco Mundo, once again in his body.

He had succeeded in his quest.

    Part 4: Birth of Darkness

The first thing Saelien did was learn the limits of Aparición, the flaws and strengths.  It was not perfect, it could potentially fail him one day, but combined with his intelligence, he saw no way to leave the leave the world forever, to properly die, until the day he chose to.  But now, armed with something much closer to true immortality, what was he to do?  His power was still not the greatest – even if it was above oh so many, and those with great power attracted others with great power.  Clashes would be inevitable, and Saelien would be at greater risk.  He couldn’t have that.  But that in turn meant that he would be unable to rule in the Hueco Mundo, at least, in the Hueco Mundo as he knew it.  Soul Society was a pointless idea, as was the mortal realm, for the shinigami protected it with their lives.

    Lives…

Thus was born the great plan.  Saelien was akin to a god, was he not?  Unchallengeable intelligence, enough to foil the plans of death itself, abilities that would defy death forever.  If others were too strong, and if being the strongest would attract others, then the answer was obvious.  They all had to die.  Everything more powerful than him, everything close to his level of power.  They all had to go, and that would leave him as the supreme master, a man worthy of the title of god.  It didn’t matter who they were; if they had strength, they no longer had the right to live.  With that decision, Saelien truly became the Cold Lord, the being that he is today, and with that decision, he strode into the desert once more, plotting, planning, setting others up and watching them fall.

He had not forgotten either lady En'dis or what had first drove him on his quest.  By now – immortal and far stronger than he had been before, and equipped with Silentium – Fjorsak was no longer a true threat, yet Saelien decided to deal with him.  Reuniting with En'dis and calming her down – she had feared for the worst after his sudden disappearance – they travelled to Fjorsak's stronghold, and Saelien finally engaged his old enemy in combat.  This time, he held the edge in speed, and he cut down Fjorsak with Silentium.  En'dis fought her way into Fjorsak's prison, and when she returned...

When she returned, she carried Tabetha with her.  Saelien had thought himself beyond surprise, but the fact she was alive surprised him.  It also complicated matters.  He had told En'dis that Tabetha had died, and on returning to their home, En'dis treated him coldly, no longer an easy tool to be used.  So Saelien made a decision.  Both En'dis and Tabetha qualified as beings that were too strong to live, and having been in Fjorsak's 'care' for so long, he deemed Tabetha a ruined person.  Not wishing to test if Tabetha's old skills remained, he slipped poison in her food and stabbed En'dis through the heart with a cold blade in her back.  He had newly acquired, loyal servants burn both bodies that night.

The loss of the two ladies of his life did not hurt Saelien in the slightest.  Their death and his reaction proved to him that he had surpassed all fear and emotional weakness.

    Part 5: El Amo Frío

From that day, Saelien began to make a new name for himself.  He was silent for a century, long enough for all the old tales of his exploits to fade from memory, and in that time, he explored the human world, finding his fun and entertainment there.  When he returned to the Hueco Mundo, he set himself up as a figure that one could pay – be it with valuable intelligence, useful slaves, or personal servitude, as all things were useful to Saelien – to help them with delicate matters.  He was a mercenary, an assassin, but not some common thug hired to deal with minor problems.  He was a terror, a man approached only when no other options were possible, for the cost he demanded for his services was always high, even if his results spoke for themselves.

In the meantime, he sowed his own chaos, killing prominent figures and helping bloodthirsty and unqualified monsters achieve positions of power from the shadows, ensuring that there would always be chaos, and there would always be those willing to pay the price for his aid.

Such is how it has been for quite some time.

Also.  Due to Saelien's lack of hierro and general nature, but him having his monomolecular blades, I would like to apply an AR change to Saelien.

It is stated that arrancar gain a +1 AR rating for defence only due to hierro.  Could Saelien instead have a +1 AR rating for offence, and a -1 AR rating for defence (in addition to the racial bonus being eliminated, so Saelien will have -1 AR in defence than whatever tier he has would suggest)?

Overall Quality: It is clear that a ton of work was put into this character. It has an arcing theme throughout and there is a lot of emphasis on elaborating where other characters usually just stop.

This app is acceptable for leadership tier should you pass the vote. 2-3 or 3-1 depending on the poll results.

Your powers and abilities will unfortunately need some updating.

To start off, if you would like to lose the AR from your hierro and gain AR into offense, you'll need to use up one of your ability slots. If you do decide to do this keep in mind that your release form ice armor will be just as susceptible to damage as your skin. Unless you make it a technique, the armor will offer no extra protection no matter how hard or sturdy you describe it to be. Since that armor was probably your loop hole you were counting on to stay safe from the hierro weakness, you may want to rethink this. In fact as I go through your character you'll find that you may have to rethink a lot of it. I'll do my best to compromise so the core spirit of the character remains despite any changes asked of you.

Your sealed Zanpakutou information is nowhere to be found! But that is our fault! It wasn't in the app for some reason. It has been added to the ressureccion info section. It's just two fields for the weapon type and its appearance, but it's still pretty important so be sure to edit it in ;)I deeply apologize that we did not catch this sooner D:

Spoiler:

You are a ghost becoming a ghost. That logic just doesn't work in Bleach. Leaving your body behind and entering a state of disembodied energy is fine. But you can't be invisible, undetectable, and intangible. You're essentially pulling your consciousness and all your reiryoku out of the reishi shell that is your body. In this form it is okay if you are faster to help escape deadly attacks. But you were already a spiritual being and everyone could see and interact with you. The same would apply even if you shed your body. This form can be very "ghost-like" For example, your reishi making up your form would be less dense allowing you to pass through walls. But anything with reiatsu such as an attack, barrier, or sekkiseki stone(doesn't have reiatsu, but suppresses it) would be as solid as ever for you. So long as you re-work this with the fact in mind that you can't become a ghost of a ghost then there should be no problems. If you do that, you can even make the draw backs less ridiculous. I mean...who wants to go gather a bunch of souls for the next several threads? Don't be so hard on yourself.

Technique Name: Mors Anulus
Technique Description: This technique is imbued into an artefact – the silver ring that Saelien wears at all times.  This artefact is a sensing device that can replace Pesquisa under specific situations.  It's power is both simple and effective.  Anything that Saelien has personally harmed, be it deep in the past or mere seconds from the present, have had their existence imprinted on Mors Anulus.  The wound that Saelien has delivered to them must not just be a mere pinprick – it must have been deep and damaging, making any imprinted in Mors Anulus those who have, in Saelien's eyes, essentially escaped death.  Whenever any of these beings are within a mile of Saelien, their presence and various features of their being are made known to him without the need for Pesquisa.  Their imprint is lost in Mors Anulus the moment their life ends.

Technique Effect Chart:

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Lower: Saelien can sense the presence, identity (that is, Mors Anulus will tell or remind him exactly who the presence belongs to) and total sum of the reiatsu of the imprinted being.

Instead of lasting forever this technique needs to have a turn limit. Your opponent would eventually be able to purge their body of any traces of your reiatsu after all. But I realize that defeats the purpose of this being a reminder of those who've escaped death at your hands. My compromise is this. Re-work this into a marking/tracking technique that is short term. Then, create an item for the ring(which should be done anyways) after your character is approved. You could make the aspect of the rings effects amplify the potency of your technique and thus extend the length of the effects to last several years. It still can't be permanent, but in this rp several years might as well be permanent.

Saelien can simply tear the essence of a being free from their body once these conditions are fulfilled using either of his hands, at which point he has several options available to him.

Ghosts becoming ghosts pops up here again. This is a bleach rp but its seeming like the character concept was originally designed for a world where everyone is "living" by general standards. This can still be a unique way to consume souls, pulled someones reiryoku source out and devouring it directly as opposed to consuming their spiritual flesh. It'd be almost like what the fullbringer Ginjou did when he was displaying fullbring for Ichigo on a drink.

Technique Name: Infusion
Technique Description: Sometimes, fighting in a cloak of stealth and anonymity is undesirable. In these times, Saelien can make use of the ability of Infusion in order to empower his abilities. Infusion can be immediately activated whenever Saelien desires – there will be a blue flash of power from his body the instant the technique activates. When Infusion is activated, the cold energy from his technique of 'El Amo Frio' is drained away and his reiatsu becomes clear for the world to see. This drained power enhances his body, boosting his Reiryoku by a small yet noticeable amount until certain conditions are fulfilled.

In using Infusion, Saelien is considered to have two 'stacks' of minor Infusions to further enhance his other abilities (these effects are detailed within the abilities of 'Sword of the Godslayer' and 'Dreadstep'). Each use of this minor Infusion reduces the boost through this technique to Saelien's Reiryoku by half until the stat is back to normal. Unlike the initial use of Infusion, these minor forms do not show any visible sign of being used.

Alternatively, both stacks can be returned to El Amo Frio. In this case, Saelien's reiatsu will be cloaked once more, and there will be no cooldown on the use of Infusion. However, if even a single stack has been used, then there will be a cooldown present. If half is returned, then there is a one post cooldown for this ability. If nothing is returned, then there is a three post cooldown.

This has references to the old stat system. But if you think you'll be able to get AR boosts instead, the technique would require some tweaking such as charge time and steeper cool downs along with some other penalty to balance it out for fairness sake. This is because generally no one else has AR boosting techniques. Anyone else who makes them in the future would be expected to take on the similar penalties.

Effect Under Infusion: Empowered by the cold, an enhanced ice blade will not be destroyed upon the final use of 'Sword of the Godslayer', and can be reused until the sword itself is destroyed by external means.

For the opponents stronger than you, instead of just destroying their attacks, would you please add that you take damage from the resulting explosion? Doesn't have to be much, but when you slash a big ol' cero at point blank range and then send a ton of energy into to causing its unstable destructions...well...you're probably not going to escape the resulting blast unscathed.

You also mention swords as if you have a technique for creating ice swords in your sealed form, but I don't see any. So where do these swords come from? If you plan on your sealed zanpakutou to be the power to create ice swords, that is unacceptable. The zanpakutou is the sealed incarnation of your hollow powers. Not something to be treated as a disposable weapon like these ice blades seem to be.

At this point, the energy is reabsorbed by Saelien.

Over his hands, and up to his elbows, Saelien now has a small amount of what appears to be protection in the form of icy, bluish armour.  This armour is also present at Saelien's feet, forming protective boots.

Just re-itterating that unless you use up an ability slot, you wont gain/lose any AR boosts aside from what naturally comes with ressureccion. Your armor, will also only be aesthetic unless you turn it into a technique.

Technique Name: Yermo Congelado (Frozen Wasteland)
Technique Description: Yermo Congelado is the main ability Saelien possesses in his released form and, together with the reiatsu boost, it is all that is often required.  The ice that forms Saelien’s swords and armour is not, as some might suspect, frozen water, but instead pure reiatsu given an icy form through Saelien’s abilities.  As a consequence, Saelien's ice is beyond the control of other ice users – but in turn, their ice is also beyond his.  Naturally, his ice has rather different properties to frozen water; it doesn’t melt easily (for a very specific reason), and is surprisingly hard and strong – features more important when considering the armour that Saelien wears.  The armour is impressively durable, relative to Saelien; weaker attacks from opponents of a similar level may succeed only in scoring or chipping the ice.

With the swords, this is less important.  The thin edge of the ice blades means that reiatsu can be focused to immense densities along the cutting side, meaning that in terms of cutting and slicing ability, the swords are frightening indeed.

The chief function of this ability, however, is control.  Saelien has a certain degree of control over the ice generated in his release; he cannot make the ice dance or fly, but he can change the state the reiatsu is in at will.

Creation of your Ice Blades and your Armor should be separate from this technique. They should also be separate from each other. This should only allow for the state changing of your ice.

Technique Name: Abismo Frío (Cold Abyss)
Technique Description: Whilst Saelien can create monomolecular edged blades through Yermo Congelado, and can manipulate his ice to a degree through the same technique, Abismo Frío allows Saelien to produce much larger quantities of ice.  There are many different ways in which he can attack with the ice (and far more in which he can simply form it) – he can charge a blast in his hand like a cero, releasing a crushing, fast flowing wave of ice of similar size and speed to a cero (with similar charge time), or he can collect reiatsu at the edge of his swords, thus projecting a wave of ice a short distance beyond the sword itself.  The danger of the ice is obvious – one could get swallowed by a wave of ice, or crushed underneath the weight.

This also offers up a defensive technique, as Saelien can raise barriers of ice to block attacks; by varying the thickness, he can change the time in which they are created and the amount that they can block.  A barrier formed quickly can block most low to mid level kidou; a barrier that Saelien spends sufficient time on could be near impregnable in a direct assault.

The ice formed through Abismo Frío has all the usual properties associated with Saelien’s ice; it is durable, and more resistant to heat than might be expected, and quite importantly, it persists even after Saelien seals his Zanpakuto again, and will continue to persist for a few days on average before eventually disintegrating into nothingness.  If Saelien can give the ice a supply of reiatsu – such as the swords that he carries with him – then the ice can persist indefinitely until destroyed.

Technique Effect Chart:

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Lower: Any barrier will be extremely difficult to overcome, attacks using ice will cause incapacitating wounds on direct hits.

Opponent is One Tier Lower: Most weaker barriers can be overcome with strong attacks, attacks using ice will cause heavy to incapacitating wounds on direct hits.

Opponent is Equal Tier: Most weaker barriers can be overcome with many attacks, attacks using ice will cause heavy wounds on direct hits.

Opponent is One Tier Higher: Most strong barriers can be overcome with strong attacks, attacks using ice will cause notable to heavy wounds on direct hits.

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Higher: Most strong barriers can be overcome with many attacks, attacks using ice will cause notable wounds on direct hits.

We are trying to phase out free-manipulation techniques because the versatility they offer is simply unfair to players who have more modest powers. Since we can't let everyone have free-manipulation powers(this isn't avatar) we simply have to be more strict on those who go for them. That being said, you'll have to adjust this so it is a single use of your ice powers. The cero-like ice wave, or the defensive wall. Choose one. Otherwise you're getting multiple techniques for the price of one.

Technique Name: Bala Supremo (Supreme Bala)
Technique Description: Despite the name, Bala Supremo looks nothing like the regular bala technique, and is only similar in one way – that being the speed of the technique.  By pointing a finger at the target, Saelien can fire a thin beam of energy that travels even faster than a regular bala, but has considerably more power compressed into the beam.  The charge time is negligible, and the range is as long as that of a cero without the spreading issue that ceros have – the beam will remain focused the entire journey.  However, the most important aspect of the technique is the piercing power – no normal armour or defence can protect against the beam of the Supreme Bala, with only the absolute strongest shields and barriers providing adequate defences – almost all will be pierced through effortlessly by the beam, and if an opponent is hit directly, there is likely to be a hole the width of one of Saelien’s fingers blasted through their body.  Quick, precise and deadly, Bala Supremo embodies Saelien’s fighting style.

(Bala Supremo has a one post cooldown)

Technique Effect Chart:

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Lower: A hole will be punched through where Bala Supremo hits.

Opponent is One Tier Lower: A hole will be punched through where Bala Supremo hits.

Opponent is Equal Tier: A hole will be punched through where Bala Supremo hits.

Opponent is One Tier Higher: In the absence of a strong defensive technique, a hole will be punched through where Bala Supremo hits.  Otherwise, Bala Supremo will burn through the technique and cause some damage to the target.

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Higher: In the absence of a strong defensive technique, a hole will be punched through where Bala Supremo hits.  A strong defensive technique will stop Bala Supremo.

You cant have near undodgable speed AND the ability to pierce nearly every thing. Pick one or the other please.

Technique Effect Chart:

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Lower: Areas of the body touched by the technique will be converted into ice. Provided no further exposure occurs within three posts, this ice can be overpowered by the reiatsu of the body, reverting instead to heavy frostbite. Full exposure will kill NPC's.

Opponent is One Tier Lower: Areas of the body touched by the technique for a few seconds will be converted into ice. Provided no further exposure occurs within two posts, this ice can be overpowered by the reiatsu of the body, reverting instead to heavy frostbite.

Opponent is Equal Tier: Areas of the body exposed to the technique for a long duration, or several times, will be converted into ice.

This needs information on how much exposure it takes each tiered opponent before the effects sit in. I'd also like a cool down of a couple turns added as this can be used to render long distance attacks more or less worthless.

Technique Name: Aria de Muerte (Song of Death)
Technique Description: Aria de Muerte refers more to the sign of this technique, rather than what the actual technique itself is. Aria de Muerte requires a longer charge time than any of Saelien’s other abilities, and whilst it is being charged, a faint wail can be heard coming from the blades of ice that Saelien carries, a sound of sorrow and pain. Certain victims may hear the noise, the Aria de Muerte, for longer than others, for whilst this technique has a minimum charge time, it can also be charged further to increase the power.

When released, Aria de Muerte takes the form of a sudden burst of hungering, shifting shadows, dark enough to be noticeable even at night, even in the Hueco Mundo – and as it is used, the ice blade it was charged within ceases to be. The amount of shadows released stays constant; each blast is a large wave that could completely envelop a man, and this is exactly what they seek to do. Moving faster than any cero, the shadows of the Song of Death wrap around Saelien’s opponents and bind them, blinding them and preventing movements, much like a bakudou.

(Requires one post charge time, can be extended to two posts).

Technique Effect Chart:

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Lower: Basic shadows will be akin to high level bakudou and difficult to escape from quickly, but possible.  Strong shadows cannot be escaped from quickly.

Opponent is One Tier Lower: Basic shadows will be akin to high level bakudou and difficult to escape from quickly, but possible.  Strong shadows cannot be escaped from quickly.

Opponent is Equal Tier: Basic shadows will be akin to mid-level bakudou, and of a normal difficulty to escape from quickly.  Strong shadows will be akin to high level bakudou and difficult to escape from quickly, but possible.

Opponent is One Tier Higher: Basic shadows will be akin to mid-level bakudou, and of a normal difficulty to escape from quickly.  Strong shadows will be akin to high level bakudou and difficult to escape from quickly, but possible.

Opponent is Two+ Tiers Higher: Basic shadows will be easily broken.  Strong shadows  will be akin to mid-level bakudou, and of a normal difficulty to escape from quickly.

This is shadow manipulation which has nothing to do with your cold element. You're gonna have to remove a technique anyways for the formation of your ice blades or armor. Might as well be this one since it doesn't fit your characters element. Alternatively, you could add shadow element since you've only used one when you're allowed multiple(two if I remember right). But that seems like a waste since you have techniques that are reliant upon your ice blades.

Spoiler:

As mentioned before, the whole souls of souls thing just doesn't work in the Bleach universe. My compromise to you is that Saelien tells people this as a scare factor, or perhaps because he truly believes it. But the real mechanics at work are actually more tied to Saelien's element. Cold. Cold is a lack of kinetic energy, so what this blade cuts is the kinetic energy of a soul. The effects cause an extreme drop in activity in the opponents reishi where they were "cut" causing it to feel like the limb weakens or disappears.

But it also needs a time for how long these effects last. The natural reiatsu of your opponent should be able to eventually purge itself of these effects within a single thread. Even if that time is 10 posts for someone weaker than you.

------------

That's about everything. Feel free to negotiate these things, but keep in mind that if something was asked to be weaker, it needs to still be nerfed in some way when you come back with a counter suggestion. They were weakened for a reason.[/quote]

Saelien

Saelien
To start off, if you would like to lose the AR from your hierro and gain AR into offense, you'll need to use up one of your ability slots. If you do decide to do this keep in mind that your release form ice armor will be just as susceptible to damage as your skin. Unless you make it a technique, the armor will offer no extra protection no matter how hard or sturdy you describe it to be. Since that armor was probably your loop hole you were counting on to stay safe from the hierro weakness, you may want to rethink this.

Not particularly a loophole, more just taking what was being granted in the previous system; I'm perfectly fine with armour being negligable because Saelien doesn't really need it. I'll add an ability for the AR Boost; I still have an open ability slot.

I would like the ability to remain largely undetected, if possible, and I would be willing to add further restrictions on the ability to facilitate that. It ruins the mystery if, on being forced to use the technique, Saelien is blatantly visible and whatnot. This might require some further discussion because I know very well where it's clear the ability could be abused and would be a problem (i.e. in it's current form it would be unparalleled as a spying tool!).

I'll update it in regards to barriers and sekkisekki, though - even in it's current form, if the essence were trapped appropriately it would not be able to escape freely.

Sounds good! I'll work on that.

That is essentially what it does, which is why I referred to 'essence' rather than just the plain soul. It is, as you put it in your review of Phantom, dragging the consciousness and reiryoku out of the reishi shell, without granting the stability that Saelien possesses. If that is a better way to put it, I'll happily edit that in!

I'll rework the technique as requested!

I'll edit the explosion in!

As for the ice swords, the reason for their existence is mentioned in places in the app (in appearance, I believe. If not, then I apologize and I'll make the required edits). Essentially, the ice that Saelien creates when he is released doesn't suddenly fade into thin air when he seals his sword. He typically creates two swords and suitable sheaths before resealing his Zanpakuto, keeps then, and uses them as weapons when sealed! Hence it's not good for him if they break, because he has no means of replacing them in his sealed form - his weapons, like him, are very much glass cannons.

I'll edit in the Zanpakuto information; I wondered why there was no part for it in the app template before.

In regards to the release then, I will make Yermo Congelado only for state control.

I will then create separate techniques for the blades and potentially the armour (although I may just ditch the armour and go full glass cannon), since these are very specialised applications of the ice, not just some random construct.

I might remove Bala Supremo and the shadows because they are powerful techniques that only partially mesh with the overall design.

I'll add some conditions upon Ardor y Alcozar!

Regarding Silentium, what if it instead severed the flow of spiritual energy? That is to say, where it cuts, spiritual energy can no longer flow; if it 'severed' an arm, it would be a useless piece of flesh cut off from the spiritual energy of the spirit. It would essentially have exactly the same effects as it does now, is thematically pretty much the same, but fits more in line with Bleach lore.

I can add in post times for healing, though.

I'll make another post when changes are made, and further posts if more discussion is necessary on the points raised! I appreciate the prompt review.

And changes have been made.

For ease of reading:

Changelist:

Aparicion: Detectable by large scale cold aura around the Phantom. Slightly re-worded to make clear that this is not a soul-in-a-soul, but rather the sum of the reiatsu and mind of Saelien placed in an incorporeal form. Invisibility retained in order to maintain the mystery of Saelien’s youth and apparent disregard for death. Area limitation added - Saelien must be in Hueco Mundo within one day of using the technique and will bleed reiatsu until then. Potential interaction with abilities and materials added.

New ability added: Ephemeralis. -1 AR when defending, +1 AR when attacking, racial hierro bonus eliminated. Stacks with release.

Mors Annulus replaced by new technique: Cessation’s Emissary. Same effect as Mors Annulus, but effects only last for one month.

Harvest: Clarified that the referred ‘essence’ is the mind and sum of reiatsu present.

Sword of the Godslayer: Requested explosion added.

Removed Infusion. A technique slot is currently open in this application and I will design a technique at a later date.

Release Changes:

Added Zanpakuto info.

Removed armour, added aesthetic blue glow.

Techniques separated out.

Cooldown on Ardor y Alcozar added.

Reworded parts of Silentium to explain it severs the connection with reiatsu/reiryoku. Added heal times.

Cold Abyss now creates an icy orb that can either create a wave of ice or a pillar. This is determined by whether Saelien unleashes it’s power or drops it to the ground.

New Technique Added: Endless Despair. Freezes binding/barrier techniques and abilities at a cost and cooldown.

A release technique slot is currently open in this application and I will design a technique at a later date.
