THE SHINIGAMI APPLICATION Name: Minamoto, JunAlias: N/A Real Age: Somewhere around 200 years. Phys. Age: Early 30's. Gender: Male Personality: Jun is a meticulous person, careful in his planning and incredibly detailed in how he follows these actions through. He doesn't believe in half assing anything, following it to the end, no matter the means required to get the result he, or his superiors, demand. He is fiercely loyal to the Second Division, and by association, the Gotei, but he always seems to have some type of edge to him that comes from his own loyalties and free will coming into play. While loyal to the Second, he follows a small code that he enforces against himself, resulting in him often enough disobeying orders that would counter his own plans. He doesn't kill or harm children, nor does he enjoy hitting women or elderly people. However, if you are the latter, and you square up and threaten him far enough that he deems your bodily harm worth the payback, you would be smart to prepare for the cunning and lethality of an assassin. He tends to stay quiet, speaking in quiet tones and using the least amount of words needed to get his point across due to the colonies that live within his body, and their decisions to run rampant along his body, especially if they notice that he is communicating to someone other than them. Because of the nature of his body and the diseases and such that plague it, he is careful about physical contact with those in the Gotei, often avoiding overly friendly individuals or those he doesn't know, simply because he is unsure of how they would react to the bile or pus that covers his body. After all, who knows if Joe Whats-His-Name or Brody Spaghetti can survive a touch of ebola? In his spare time, Jun is known to be quite the entomology expert, though such a thing is no shock if you know of his Host abilities. Yes, he's a huge nerd. Yes, he has an ant farm or two, or fifteen and a sixteenth on the way. No, you can't pet Betty, his Tarantula, she bites. CHARACTER APPEARANCE Height: 5'10"Weight: No more than 150, by the looks of it. Physical Traits: Jun's body is covered in bandages, leaving only his right eye and his mouth uncovered to allow sight and communication without issue. Anyone can ask about the bandages, but upon closer inspection to the area around his mouth and eye, you would see his skin, coloured red and black, as if Jun was stricken by an awful disease and was dying. Despite the appearance of his skin, he doesn't have much of an odor, nor do his bandages look like they are hiding a diseased body. The bandages are changed daily, keeping their pristine white colour, though this procedure takes quite a long time and is often done before he begins his duties in the Fourth Division. His voice is relatively quiet, with a slight rasp to it, and when angered or raising his voice, one can hear what sounds like a rattle or a chittering in his tone. His one visible eye is dark green, with what looks like strained capillaries that are on the verge of bursting, yet never doing so. Jun's body is hairless to the eye, leaving some to suspect that the man is either bald or his hair is, much like the rest of his body, hidden underneath his bandages. Jun's body moves around quickly and with purpose, as if wandering is an action that he is unable to take. Despite his diseased appearance, his steps aren't hindered, and even his daily work doesn't seem hindered. One could even assume that his appearance is just deceitful, to make those around him pity him. Whether this is entirely true or not, no one knows. The bandaged man isn't one for breaking the mold in his uniforms, aside from his bandages. A standard hakama and kosode make up his uniform, tied with a sash that wraps around his thin waist and then around his chest and right shoulder, to prevent him from having a longer sash than he feels necessary due to his thin frame. He keeps his zanpakutou secured on his left hip. THE COMBAT INFORMATION General Fighting Style: Jun isn't much for a fight, though he is far from a pacifist. He simply thinks his best chance at taking an opponent down isn't by relying on strength, but cunning and manipulation. Dirty underhanded tactics coupled with his ability as a Host or his Zanpakutou are his bread and butter in combat, and while he typically doesn't go for killing or lethal blows, he will often go for incapacitating and disabling his opponent, be it temporarily or permanently. When forced to, Jun trades blows, never letting an opponent score a free hit without some sort of payback in return. When engaging in missions that require stealth, Jun seems to excel, utilizing his abilities as a Host to the best he can, gathering intelligence through his own custom spellcraft and his own intelligence before making his final movements. Because of this and the nature of his Host abilities, Jun is often looked at as a cold and meticulous assassin when the need arises. However, unless demanded by his Captain or Vice Captain, he will still seek incapacitating his target over killing them. Strengths: Kidō: Kidō is a strong suit of Jun’s due to the nature of his division, as well as a side effect of having such a high store of spiritual energy. He isn’t as well-versed enough to cast Kidō up to level 80 without issue, but instead finds himself able to cast level 50 Kidō without much difficulty. Durable: Jun is a very durable person given the nature of his power and his own will-power. He is able to take hits that would be lethal to an average shinigami and shrug them off within the next few days, as if they didn't happen. He is also very skilled in mitigating damage and knowing how to react to sudden pain or impact, allowing him to practically fake being okay, despite the fact that someone just broke more ribs than he knew he had. Reiryoku Control: Knowing how to control the very essence that fills his body is essential when one is basically a walking battery to a myriad of insects that are lethal to humans. He knows how to bide his energy and manipulate it, to where he is almost always using the least amount of energy needed for his actions, be it spiritual or physical. Weaknesses: Hakuda: One of the few branches of the Shinigami that most specialize in, Jun lacks the physical force behind his punches and kicks to be much of a threat in close combat, as his bones are glass and his skin paper. Jokes aside, Jun simply looks stronger than he is, and that by itself is horrible to say. Please protecc. Ranged Combat: Jun is less 'unskilled' in long range combat as he is at a severe disadvantage while engaging in combat with someone who has range as an advantage. His insects typically won't be able to reach a far away target, unless he is able to keep them distracted, nor is he durable enough to allow his entire colony to be roasted alive by a kidou slinger. When he is forced to engage in combat, he'll often try to keep the distance close or medium range. Hoho: Despite being an assassin, Jun isn't known for being a speedster and being capable of sneaking up from 5 miles away within the blink of an eye. Even how he walks is a casual meander. This is primarily due to the stability of his body's structure, and the fact that being an incredibly fast being would likely result in his diseased body falling apart or becoming weak when he needs it to be strong. Ability Name: 共生調和 | Symbiotic Harmony Ability Description: Jun's body is the end result of decades of abuse from his zanpakutou's powers and toxicity, which has led to him becoming the very host of his zanpakutou’s spiritual form, so to speak. Underneath his bandages is a skin-like shell, torn and broken in areas, only to be patched up by black and green spheres that move around aimlessly. These spheres are in fact insects of various types, ranging from cockroaches to centipedes to beetles and arachnids. These insects are connected to his mind, allowing him to control them without much effort or movement to do so, usually just a simple thought. These insects hold his body together for the most part and keep him alive, in exchange for one thing: his body itself, or the energy he can provide as a spiritual being. These insects feed off of both spiritual energy and his own body, namely diseased organs and skin, of which he has plenty of. In exchange for feeding these insects, he is gifted with a higher speed of regeneration than most average shinigami, though his skin never heals the diseases that plague it. While they cannot heal him themselves, the insects instead act as high-power bandaids for most wounds. A stab wound would find itself sealed by slime from the insects within his body, preventing him from bleeding out, a loss of limbs would result in the location of loss being covered in insects, working to make the loss of their host as minimal as possible. In time, the slime that these insects can secrete will allow him to heal, even regenerate if they are fed properly and if he is capable of taking care of himself properly, though things such as a lopped off limb wouldn’t be able to regenerate as fast as a stab wound would be able to close for Jun. He still feels pain, and passing out due to it is very possible, and death, as well as fatal wounds, are still the bane of his existence, as they are with most beings. He is not invincible, simply durable as hell because of his closest, creepy, crawly friends. Ability Name: 解毒剤 | Kaidokuzai | Antidote Ability Description: Jun’s body has been subjected to dozens, if not hundreds of diseases, ranging from chicken pox, jaundice and the common flu, all the way to malaria and even ebola. Despite these odds, the insects within his body have always found his diseased body to be a treat. In exchange for devouring his flesh once inflicted by any disease or foreign invasion, they begin to provide an antidote or a solution to the invasion. In laymans terms, this means that foreign entities or diseases simply don’t work on Jun. He can initially show symptoms of a disease, and often does so even when given a cure, but his body will always adapt a cure to diseases and foreign entities that he is exposed to. These antidotes can also be given to others, though they may not always work given the severe difference in anatomy. ZANPAKUTO Sealed Appearance: Kansen is a standard katana, with no abnormalities that separate it from any other zanpakutou one would see in the hips of those around the Gotei. The zanpakutou only changes in appearance when Jun places his hand on it, at which point it begins to release a clicking noise from within the sheath. Zanpakutou Name: 感染 | Kansen | Infection Call Out Command: Crawl, Kansen. SHIKAI Appearance: When Kansen is released, the blade reveals a line along the sharpened edge, where small antennae and legs can be seen poking out at odd intervals. The blade, despite being hollow and holding insects within it, is as durable as a regular released zanpakutou blade, and just as sharp, though the ability to cut isn’t the greatest talent of Kansen. Abilities: 寄生虫 | Kiseichū | Parasite Kansen’s primary ability is the ability to, as its name states, infect other hosts. While Jun is the mother host and has complete control of the bugs within his body and within his zanpakutou from years of infection, the insects within are always hungry for new flesh. When he makes a cut against an object or a person, the insects within are triggered to latch onto the surface of whatever his blade touches or cuts, beginning their parasitic tendencies. When Jun cuts a person, they are infected with his insects, which will begin to feed on their body from the source of the wound for every turn they are allowed to fester within a new host. The wound will begin to grow, while the pain will begin to intensify, obviously due to the fact that the new host has insects tearing their body apart from the wound and out. The insects will do bala-level damage every turn they are allowed to fester within the new host, as well as creating a larger wound from the initial cut or stab. These insects can be recalled by Jun himself without failure, but they can also be taken out by various other means, typically fire or ice working the best. 千の瞳 | Sen no Hitomi | One-Thousand Eyes An ability that begins to work by allowing arachnids within his zanpakutou to take over his vision - in a rather grotesque manner, by the way - in exchange for their own superior vision. An arachnid of an unknown species is released from the handle of his zanpakutou, crawling to his face and devouring his one visible eye, and then sitting in place of it. By connecting his reiatsu to the spider’s own signature, he is able to see the world in faceted vision, allowing him to essentially have several dozens of eyes in place of his one. His peripheral vision is enhanced greatly, to the point where he is able to see 40 degrees further to his sides than he would be able to with his single eye, as well as being able to see things in further detail. He is able to have his vision’s effective range doubled. The downside to this ability, aside from the spider eating his eye until he is able to regenerate it at some point after releasing his zanpakutou, is that his vision often gives him headaches and causes focusing to be difficult after 5 posts of using this, getting progressively worse every 2 posts afterwards. 捕食者を追い払う | Hoshoku-sha O Oiharau | Warding Off Predators A technique meant more for incapacitation than offense, Hoshoku-sha O Oiharau has potential as a useful technique. By calling a certain species of stink beetle to the edge of his zanpakutou and swinging the blade, he is able to release a spray that can reach upwards of 30m, though the spray is strongest within the first 10m. This spray smells much like some type of mix between human feces and rotted flesh, but the absolute best part of it comes after the initial swing. The spray evaporates fast, turning into a vapor that allows it to obscure the vision of those within 10m of the point of use, so to speak. 脱皮 | Dappi | Molting By encasing his body in the many insects that infest his sword and his body, Jun is able to quickly create a thin layer of insects that are capable of defending against attacks he himself is unable to, or unwilling to risk taking the damage of. By quickly shedding a portion of his zanpakutou's insects, he is able to defend up to a Cero-level attack once per every 2 turns, with a limit of 4 uses per thread. If he uses all 4 uses while in Shikai, his zanpakutou will immediately seal. BANKAI New Name: 疫癘 | Ekirei | PlagueAppearance: In his Bankai, the appearance of his zanpakutou seems to be more hostile, carrying with it an infectious type of feeling that cannot be shaken (see below). The ground around him will seem to soften and shift around, as if his very presence summons bugs from beneath the earth, even if the ground physically shouldn't allow his creepy crawly friends through (ie concrete). His body changes more severely, becoming horrific, starting with the extra 4 arms that tear through his back and settle shortly after, causing him to look like some type of human spider. His bandages shed, revealing his diseased skin in all of its glory. His hair is long enough to cover his neck, though you can still see the skin beneath it due to the fact that it looks much like spider silk. His zanpakutou is no longer in a sword shape, seemingly disappearing in exchange for his grotesque form. However, the lethality of his bankai is not measured by what weapon he has, but by what weapon he is. Abilities: 支配 | Shihai | Dominion In the presence of Jun's Bankai, one is instilled with a feeling of unnerving fear or disgust for his body, and the longer one is subjected to it, the worse the effects. Beginning from the release of his Bankai and onwards until it's sealing, anyone who enters a 25m range of Jun are found to be infected with some type of hallucinogen that creates distortions and images that would provide high octane nightmare fuel to the person afflicted with this technique. The victims skin will feel as if something is constantly crawling on it, underneath their skin, or in the back of their physical head. Within a few posts of being afflicted, they will visibly see insects crawl out from their orifices, tear through their skin and so on. While this is purely hallucinogenic, the images and feeling will seem as real as can be. The 'antidote', so to speak, to this hallucinogen is simply to touch Jun, be it with a punch or kick, though the touch must be made with actual touch, not a zanpakutou. くもの巣 | Kumonosu | Spider Nest By spinning thread from within his back 4 hands, Jun can create a series of webs imbued with spiritual energy to capture his prey, much like a spider on the hunt. These webs, though small, are strong enough to restrain a limb or obscure vision. He can create 2 webs per post, and each web travels at the speed of a bala, though they do no damage. They require Cero level strength to break free from or destroy, however. 繁盛 | Hanjō | Prosperity By summoning a small amount of insects from his palms, Jun is able to absorb damage and create a type of insect based off of the strength of the attack. The insect is usually larger than its counterparts within Jun's zanpakutou and body, but also far more lethal. He can utilize this technique once at a time, with a 3 post cooldown. The insects are summoned immediately to his side, and act as sentient creatures underneath his own control, much like the insects within his body. Each insect will last 2 turns, or until they release the energy stored to create them. Bala | A Bullet Ant. The Bullet Ant is notorious for having a fierce sting and bite, one that can incapacitate grown human adults, but one imbued with the strength of a Bala-level attack is able to have quite a searing painful bite instead. Once a Bala-level attack is absorbed, the Bullet Ant will be summoned, roughly 1 foot total in length, though its mandibles seem to spark and shine with reiatsu. When the Enhanced Bullet Ant bites a target, it will create a 1m wide explosion, releasing a Bala-level explosion. He can use this technique 5 times per thread. Cero | A Tarantula-Wasp. The Tarantula-Wasp is typically harmless to humans unless provoked, though the Enhanced Tarantula-Wasp is far more aggressive than its natural counterpart. With the ability to fly, they are able to close distance quickly and attack, typically biting or stinging their victim and releasing up to 2 Bala-level stings. He can use this technique twice per thread. Gran-Rey Cero | Wandering Spider. The Brazilian Wandering Spider is known to be the most lethal spider, with the most neurologically active venom known in the arachnid world and a fatality rating of between 8-40%. However, after absorbing a Gran-Rey Cero level attack, the fatality rating is almost guaranteed to be higher. One bite from this 3 foot spider will result in nearly complete paralysis within 2-3 posts, depending on the strength of the victim. This paralysis wears off within 2 posts after being paralyzed, or if administered the antidote by Jun himself. He can only use this technique once per thread. TOUKAI
