(This is before the war happens)
Xen'Zel strode through the streets of the seireitei, wearing plain casual clothing, his short sword in one hand, a muffin in the other. By all appearances he did not at all appear to be a shinigami, but just an armed commoner. Hey Breezy, today seems like as good a day as any to try something out for once. Taking a small bite of the muffin he continued walking, occasionally humming to himself. It was a pleasant and sunny day, and Xen'Zel was going to do something with it.
Returning to the Thirteenth Division barracks he began packing his few possessions up, again preparing to go to his usual secluded spot in the Rukongai, it was the best place he could think of for being busy. As he was walking out the door he stopped suddenly, he wanted to do more than just laze around alone. Things were happening around him in Soul Society and he felt he should be a part of it. Of course, this revelation was far too big of a jump for him. All his life Xen'Zel scraped by with the bare minimum, and even now, bubbling with energy all he wanted to do was go hide away somewhere.
Sighing he walked onwards out into the Rukongai, going back to his usual training place. Today practice was going to be different, his goal was to join the Kido Corps afterwards. Tossing his sword forward, Rain down and cleanse these lands, Bankai. Pulling out a small scroll from his pack he recited an incantation, "Bakudo 81, Danku". As the screen formed two blades struck it, Briz'riia standing a short distance away, her reiatsu making small whirlwinds around her. Excellent, that didn't use too much reiryoku. Now try a more advanced Hado. She set up a separate Danku in anticipation. Pulling out another scroll Xen began incanting, Hado 88, Hiryu Gekizoku Shinten Raiho. The powerful blast of blue reiatsu came from his outstretched palm and slammed into the barrier, the resulting explosion of energy knocking Xen off his feet.
Whew, now this is a spell I'd like to play with some more, just gotta keep at it. Standing up and stretching out his soreness. Picking up the weapons he tossed the longbladed one to Breezy, So, let's see how long this can last.
The once perfect dusty crater was blown to bits, having been ravaged by Hado and the Bakudo that deflected it. Xen'Zel was kneeling on the ground, breathing heavily, his weapon thrust into the ground next to him, and Briz'riia looked equally exhausted, glowing with jade green reiatsu, slowly flaking and blowing away in the light breeze. One hour, full strength, unfamiliar high level Kido, began at top condition. Excellent work, but we need more, you won't become Vice Commander of the Kido Corps with this much power. At that she faded away and Xen fell to his side, completely exhausted.
Day after day for weeks at a time, Xen'Zel continued this process, releasing Bankai and pushing the limits of his Reiryoku by casting high level Kido constantly. He was improving each day though, even if it was just by a few minutes at a time.
We're finally making some decent progress, you've hit the two hour mark now. However, there still needs to be more progress. Xen was sprawled on the ground covered in various wounds, ranging from small cuts to large burns. Groaning in pain, he stood up, Yeah. Well having Bankai active the entire time also gets draining too you know. But I've committed to memory every spell now, that has to be enough just to join the Kido Corps. Resealing Bankai Xen'Zel walked back to the seireitei, then went to the Fourth Division grounds to get healed. While getting healed Xen was also being lectured and reprimanded for his unannounced disappearance, but all he did was laugh.
After a few days, mostly of rest and healing. Xen'Zel headed towards the Kido Corps office, and after taking a deep breath and adjusting his uniform he opened the doors and strode inside.
Hello, my name is Xen'Zel, unseated Shinigami of the Thirteenth Division. I was an excellent student at the Academy and graduated a few years early. He spoke to a Kido Corps Member standing within the room. I would like to join the Kido Corps.
