Deep below the Seireitei lied a huge underground complex that had been designed and built by the 12th squad almost 400 years ago. It was commissioned by squad 1 to harbour beings and object of great spiritual power and as such was a veritable fortress. Every door in the area is made of pure Sekkiseki and can only be opened using special codes that change on a daily basis, and every room is plated with 4 foot thick steel. There is only one path in and out of the base, and it leads straight out into the heart of the Seireitei, past thousands of shinigami. Altogether an inescapable prison.
That is, until today. When this building was designed and built, although the shinigami put a front forward saying it was for “beings and objects of great spiritual power,” what they failed to mention was what had prompted the need for this base. Uno, the god of singularity, had ravaged over half of the Seiretei and killed thousands of shinigami before he could be stopped. And he was not dead, just imprisoned in an alternate dimension by a shinigami. If he were ever to escape again, it would be terrible for the Soul Society, and even the entire multiverse.
What the shinigami did not know, however, was that by sending Uno to the other realm, they had effectively destroyed his consciousness, leaving only Arekussu behind. And so, for the past 386 years, Arekussu had been trapped in an alternate reality created from his own mind. He had slowly been gathering his reitsu, waiting for the perfect chance to escape his prison, and he felt that day was coming. In fact, he was fairly sure it was today.

Seira hated this job. It was incredibly boring and really could not be constituted as research in any way. They just sat in this room staring at monitors in 8 hour shifts. The monitors never changed, never fluctuated, and constantly made a small beeping noise that made you want to hit them. She was smart, she should be working in weapons development or energy supply, but instead she was stuck here monitoring some spiritual relic from the past.
Her job got a more interesting fast though when the glowing orb of Reitsu in the room began to pulsate. Every couple of seconds the normally white orb would turn a dark red and grow, then bleed back to white and became a normal size. Every time it did this the reitsu monitoring charts would blast up, as would the temperature. The temperature increase grew every pulse, at first being as small as 3 degrees, but after 6 pulses it was already 10 degrees hotter in the room.
Seira quickly stood and ran to the phone, calling the head of the department. In a moment the head and all employees were in the monitoring room with her, all running scans and test of the pulsating orb. The heat had now increased to almost 30 degrees hotter than it should be, meaning that the room was almost at uninhabitable levels. The reitsu levels were also breaching above normal now, and were slowly increasing as time passed. Something was definitely wrong, but thanks to the fact that none of the shinigami in this room had ever experienced something like this, all they could do is sit and watch as the heat continued to rise and the reitsu levels of the room skyrocketed.

Arekussu sat in the center of the cave, his legs crossed and his arms laid comfortably across them. His eyes were closed and the only hint of movement you could see was the faint flickering of his eyes as he did his best to break free from the containment. He was feeling around the edges of this world with his reitsu, looking for any imperfection or crack that he could turn into an opening. His eyes flashed open after a few seconds as he found the space he needed, and in a blur he was stand at the wall. He let out a deep breath, pulled back his fist, allowed his reitsu to flow into the area covering his limb with fire, and punched the wall as hard as he could.

The monitoring room shuddered as the orb suddenly expanded to almost 3 times its normal size, sending a small wave of reitsu out and causing many of the monitors to flicker from the excess energy. Seira shuddered as the energy fell over her and stared in horror at the one thing that everyone in the room could not remove their eyes from.
The orb had a crack.
