KODAMA

Symbolism: To learn about an entity long forgotten by humans can be hard, should one trust too much in the sciences of spiritual worlds, but if they open their eyes to surrounding nature and study symbolism, japanese mysticism and folklore, they will realize that answers are closer than they would have ever expected. Every story about spirits, should be used as a reference when it comes to these beings, since they all possess little seed of truth; once many seeds of truce are putted into the ground to grow, it will grow a forest, the whole truth. Within time, all shall understand.

It can be safely assumed that the Kodama existed already before predecessors of present humans came to walk on Earth, and before they learned to write in their language, since the Kodama is a spoken word for a tree spirit or a nature demon. Originating from Japan, which they in ancient times, walked as one of the tremendously powerful kami, responsible for the environment surrounding them. This hints, that them being forest spirits is inaccurate, and that they could live in any environment they chose to take care of.

It was described as a species of supernatural, a group of transformed spirits or a deity that manifests in multiple host bodies in folklore; in truth they are mass/group of spiritual entities. While their purpose and origins are often argued over by different historians, one thing is admitted by every different mindset; they embody the forest, it's ecosystem and the power that dwells deep within the environment.

In some japanese texts, they also represent energy of life and balance of nature, but in some, they are a dark force not to mess with and that seeks to destroy those that come to their forests and cut down the trees. They either would curse humans that would anger them, which was something, that people truly would fear for, or then bless people who worshiped them as spirits and protectors of local forests. Some of them were more demonic, vengeful and hungry for souls, while some were merely healers and protectors of nature.

KODAMA

Behavior: The Kodama are highly social and intelligent beings. They are smart enough to gather in a vast pack to work together, for primal instinct of being stronger while in group, but strangely, they possess no hierarchy. This is because they have no need for something like a leader; they are not the same being, but in years, the Kodama have found deep understanding of each other, following and loyal to each other beyond all measure. Most packs are protective and peaceful in nature, whilst some groups are more malice and violent; traits that usually are possessed by every individual Kodama, are mainly their inquisitiveness and perceptiveness, what makes them so excellent in what ever they are doing. They can calculate their actions into future awaiting far away.

However, they are not human. They don't possess a humanity, they are not made out of human soul, and even though they may seem like humane species, easily sympathized by others, they are not humans and they have never been. There is no reason to try to understand them, their mind doesn't function in human ways, not in a way, that a psychologist could explain. They experience emotions in peculiar ways, when any other species look at them, they are even more animal than any hollows in existence. Still, they remain extremely aware and sentient entities, that are capable of systematic thinking, rationality and reasoning, and many other feats significant to very intelligent beings.

All of the Kodama have a deep connection to their surrounding environment, yet all of them possess wanderlust to the point, when they find the place they are destined to settle in. The species always had the ability to move from tree to tree, cross mountains and walk on the waters, never staying in one place for too long. Some packs had ability to turn invisible and inaudiable, some had ability to transform into animals and plants, to avoid humans and their curious little eyes, lying mouths and greedy hands.

The communication of Kodama was completely unique. In kanji, the Kodama meant also an echo, which was for people of Japan, believed that their voice sounded like the sounds of forests and nature. The cries of people lost in forest, the thunder hitting a tree and the sound of a tree crashing down; this all was the voice of the Kodama, which they would record once heard and cry out when threatened. The rustling in tall grass, sings of birds and more peaceful, yet natural sounds were let out by more passive and peaceful Kodama, while the species actual communication was entirely different. The basic sound of the forest spirits were the loud clicking effects that they would let out to communicate with each other.

Bleach Story Canon List:

Welcome to the Canon List of Bleach Story! This threads exists to tell members, new or old, whenever their favorite character from the series is taken or available for them to pick the said character up. Most available canon characters are listed below, but if we missed a minor character you were interested in playing, just shoot us a PM about it and we will add it - however, any canon characters introduced in the Quincy Blood War arc will not be available for now. Aizen and Yamamoto are currently played by staff for plot purposes, but there is a few needed canons, that are worth of taking a look at - these needed characters play an important part in the current chapter of the canon plot, and in addition to getting to write out one of these awesome characters, you will also get a monetary reward for picking up one of the needed canons.

Taken or reserved characters cannot be applied for, as a character can only be played by one person at a time; we don't want to see competition or fighting over the canons. You can reserve a canon character for two weeks, and after the time is up, renew your reservation for another two weeks if you need more time with the application - however, after that, the character is fair game for anyone and you cannot reserve the same character again. In addition, a player can only hold one reservation at a time. In order to reserve or claim your character, you need to post in this thread, and the staff will do the requested changes.
