Jushiro is a very ill man, and it is because of his tuberculosis, of the deadly type, that his hair would turn white after three days he got sick. It was originally black, and this is why his eye brows are of that color, and why his entire family has dark hair and he doesn't. Despite this, the body of this young man is in pretty good shape, as he does more exercise and training he is supposed to, preferring muscle exercise and athletic training, such as swimming or running. Though too much training would exhaust him and appear as critical to his condition, herbal medication that he has been using for now, seems working, and the illness has became less active.
His hair is neck-length, and his eyes are emerald green. His height is 6'1", and he weights 158 lbs. Jushiro is considered handsome.
Personality:
Jushiro is a man of peace, and even though he is considered as an excellent combatant, he usually avoids fighting without a reason. His parents, who believed it to be shame, that children had to live in such a violent world, taught his to detest conflict and war, because it always ends in the suffering of innocent. Though disarray is a form of chaos, the young Ukitake always manages to cause mess and has no sense of tidiness, which his friends always tease him for. Sharing his family's philosophies, Jushiro believes that anger and sorrow are something, that breed chaos and corrupt the soul of a shinigami, and he has chosen to abandon those feelings, so it would be really rare to see him sad or mad for something. He tends to pick the side of good guys, but often feels sympathy for the other side, if they are fighting for something too, but prefers staying out of the conflict if possible. However, if the fighting is only way to peace, Jushiro will crush those opposing the harmony. Ukitakes are also very modest persons never bragging about their accomplishments.
Jushiro is a very compassionate man, loving and protective those around him, especially for his comrades and family. If you do something, anything at all for him, he'll most probably consider you one of those, who he will not allow to get hurt, something he also learned from his family. You better not threaten those he holds close to him, because he'll surely protect them from any potential danger, and is cleaver enough to do it without laying a finger on you. Jushiro has always been a social butterfly, enjoying the company of other people, and the one who everyone likes. He is quite trustworthy, never telling your secrets to anyone, and more loyal to his friends and family, rather than to an organization. When having a conversation, be it a foe or a friend, he always remains polite and kind to them, which often lead people thinking he is soft and gentle, rarely cursing aloud. However, we all have moments, when we lose control, and on those moments, Jushiro tends to let his polite and quiet tone turn into yelling at someone. These occurrences are rare to see, though. He likes using honorifics, such as -kun, -senpai, -chan, and the list goes on and on, worth of noting, though.
Jushiro is extremely intelligent, but his observant teachers have pointed three major things out, that determine him as a smart person. He is very inquisitive, and when he has doubts, he will find out if his instinct are right, leading him being constantly aware of things happening around him, even though he would have nothing to do with it. He is very intuitive, and people around him have learned to pay attention to what he feels like is going to happen. This is the reason he tries actively to seek peace, because every time he sleeps while sick, he sees the same dream of a world, where is no conflict. He is very empathetic, intelligent of heart's matters and emotions of others; it's not a problem for him to read the mood of someone, even if they are masking it. Jushiro is also very philosophic and wise person, and even though he is not that old, he is able to do fine decisions and give right advice.
Jushiro is a lawful individual, but if he sees, that something is wrong, he won't hesitate on breaking a rule. Despite he has authority as a Central 46 member, which was left to him, by his father, he avoids using it whenever possible. It's a position not to be abused, and if he'll wont use it, it wont happen.
In combat, Jushiro appears to be cheerful and optimistic, and whenever the foe is on lower tier of power, he'll go as far as instructing the foe, how to improve his combat skills, mixing it with philosophies of protecting their comrades and themselves. Jushiro prefers fair combat and rarely chooses to go two against one, unless it dictates his sense of survival and morality, and such as leaving a comrade to battle without being sure, that they can handle it, which is an absolute no. He also carries the combat philosophy of his father, that mainly implies, that there is only two kind of reasons for fights; to protect your comrades, or to protect your honor. The honor is a big thing to all members of Ukitake family, and though anger is discouraged, vengeance for returning their honor is not unacceptable, though it may corrupt the person permanently. If they fail to protect someone several times, they lose their pride. This is why Jushiro values honor very much.
His rather cheerful attitude combined with his sweet, gentle and kind voice/appearence makes it easy to approach and talk over difficult matters with him, even people who rarely engage in conversation with strangers or otherwise will find him more trustworthy than most others.
Jushiro is also very artistic. He follows his father's footsteps on writing, which he enjoys greatly, and he draws a lot, these happening be to two of his favorite hobbies. He spends his free time in his family manor, Ugendo, and it's garden, taking care of bonzai trees and flowers, though he has never been much of green thumb, or feeding the carp living in the bond of manor. He loves ohagi, but has a thing for sweets too, and his favorite drink is either any alcoholic beverage or green tea. Jushiro loves to party and feels most alive drinking the night away. He wont say no to an invite, even if it's a total stranger, implying that he doesn't have the mindset about social hierarchy or other stupid rules. His alcohol tolerance is high, so he usually ends up taking his friends away, when they reach the point, where they cannot take anymore.
Jushiro keeps wondering of how his life would have turned out to be, if he would never have gotten sick at all.
Relationships:
Kyoraku, Shunsui ~ They have always been the partners in crime of each other, and consider each other as their best friends, but are more like brothers. They know each other better, than their families do, and when it the other one is down, the other will have his back and cheer him up. The boys care about each other more than anyone else, and optionally, whoever picks either one of them up, they can have a thing for each other too.
Hitsugaya, Toshiro ~ Jushiro hols some affection to this young shinigami, because of they have same hair color and names reminiscent of each other, and for he holds a place in his heart for smaller children.
