THE HUMAN APPLICATION Name: Ashley Vega Apparent Age: 19 True Age: 17 Sex: Female Personality: [ENFP-A] A true free spirit, Ashley is often the life of the party. She is less interested in the sheer excitement and pleasure of the moment than she is in enjoying the social and emotion connections she makes with others. She is charming, independent, energetic, and compassionate. She is far and by a diplomat, and while she may let her emotions get the better of her, she has no issues when it comes to asserting herself and keep things happy. Emotions mean a lot to her, and she would be willing to lose an argument solely for the sake of another person's emotions and sensitivity. • Curious - Ashley's curiosity will never truly be sated. There are times when she can rein it in a bit, but ultimately her curiosity is what fuels her entire existence. When it comes to new ideas, Ashley isn't interested in brooding- she wants to experience things in their most pure form, and doesn't hesitate to step out of her so-called 'comfort zone'. She is imaginative and open-minded, seeing all things as part of a big, mysterious puzzle called life, and yearns to find everything's proper place. That said, she has no qualms about discarding things, and once she understands something she generally loses interest in it; things are only cool to her if she doesn't understand them. • Observant - There are no irrelevant actions; every shift in sentiment, every move and idea is part of something bigger. To satisfy her curiosity, Ashley tries to notice all of these things and never miss a moment. Due to this, she doesn't take things at face value; she looks for the underlying motives in even the simplest things. It's not uncommon for Ashley to lose sleep asking herself why someone did what they did, what it might mean, and what to do about it. She can often be seen lost in day-dreams over the smallest thing, and trying to locate the proper place for any given action or comment can stress her out very easily; she's especially turbulent, very sensitive, and cares deeply about others' feelings. Ashley hates it when she can't say yes to everyone, because she understands that people need help when they ask, and aren't just asking for the sake of it. • Energetic/Enthusiastic - As she observes, she forms new connections and ideas; Ashley doesn't hold her tongue. When she's excited about her findings, she shares them with anyone who will listen. This infectious enthusiasm has the dual benefit of giving Ashley a chance to make more social connections, and of giving her a new source of information and experience, as she fits her new friends' opinions into her own existing ideas. • Communication - Ashley has excellent people skills, which is good because otherwise she would never get to express her ideas. She enjoys small talk and deep, meaningful conversations, which are two sides of the same coin to her. She is adept at steering conversations towards their desired subjects in ways that feel completely natural and unforced, almost to the point where it's subconscious. She doesn't actually acknowledge that she's even doing it, as she simply thinks she's explaining a thing and then boom; the conversation is about something else entirely, which gives her the ability to keep talking. Rather than simply waiting for her own turn to speak, Ashley actively listens to everything everyone says, which also coincides with her observation skills. • Emotional - While emotional expression is healthy and natural, with Ashley even viewing it as a core part of her identity, it can come out strongly enough to cause problems for her. Particularly when under stress, criticism or conflict, Ashley can experience emotional bursts that are counter-productive at best. She loathes being micromanaged and restrained by rules, wanting to be seen as a highly independent master of her own fate, and even possess an altruistic wisdom that goes beyond draconian law. The challenge for her is that she lives in a world of checks and balances, a pill she is not happy to swallow, and this is what fuels her emotional outbursts when they do occur. That said, she's very in tune with her emotions and the emotions of people around her, and her empathy leads her to places she never knew existed. LIKES/COMFORTS
• Loyalty - Those who would sacrifice anything for their friends and family are those who Ashley holds in the highest regard; while loyalty to one's own country is nice, Ashley seeks out those who are loyal to themselves and their friends, who stick to their guns even when they're in the wrong, and who are transparent about it. Ashley herself likes to think that she is also in this regard, as those who've scorned her wrath can tell. • Warmth - While this does refer to physical warmth, specifically by a fire in a log cabin with some hot cocoa, Ashley would rather tell you it refers to the warmth in a person; those who go out of their way to be happy and friendly to people, the lanterns which she gets drawn to. People can be cold and distant, but Ashley would much rather be around those who are warm and friendly, outgoing and extroverted to the extreme. Opposites do attract, and Ashley is also drawn to the cold and distant people, but she prefers those who share her fire. • Family - Similarly to Loyalty and Warmth, Ashley holds her family in high regard; not just the physical family to which she was born, as she does like them very much, but the family that she's chosen. Those who say you cannot choose your family are very wrong, as while you can't forge bonds in blood, you can very easily be so close to a person that they end up mattering to you as much if not more than your own family does. While Ashley holds her blood family in high regard, she searches for the people who share her passions to make them into her chosen family, and will protect them to the ends of the Earth and back. • Imagination - While having a sword and swinging it is one thing, being able to come up with creative and imaginative solutions to problems attracts Ashley. Those who can think outside the box not only in combat but also in everyday problems are just another flame to which the moth is drawn, figuratively speaking. While Ashley considers herself very creative and original in many ways, she seeks out those who are above even her in this regard, and attempts to learn from them. Imagination and creativity are, at best, drawn from a person's experiences, and since Ashley's curiosity fuels her identity, she is also searching for new experiences to draw upon for creativity and imagination. DISLIKES/FEARS
• Envy - People should be proud of what they have, who they are, and what they can do; while you can always better yourself, and you can potentially learn things from other people, being envious of what someone else has solely because you don't have it is a foolish endeavor and can further invoke Ashley's wrath. • Sloth - Ashley dislikes it when people are lazy and not occupying their time with literally anything. Even if a person is simply pursuing curiosity and enjoying nature, they're okay; it's when someone is sitting around doing nothing and wasting their time that Ashley gets irritated. People should always be trying to better themselves or make relationships and social connections they can fall back on in times of need, and Ashley has no respect for someone who would rather do nothing than even talk to someone. • Wrath - Ashley is okay with people getting angry for their own reasons; she can't stop them, and there's no point in trying. Ashley does not like she gets angry, because she hates the feeling it invokes. There are ways to trigger her rage, of course, but even when she sees Envy or Arrogant Pride, she still tries to hold back and not get upset or angry, solely because she dislikes being angry and wrathful. Ultimately, she fears what she would do when at maximum wrath. • Gluttony - While it's true that Ashley believes people should always be using their time in some manner, she also has even less respect for people who just always want more. There are multiple ways to utilize your time, from training your body and skills to making social connections and friendships, but people who are never happy with what they have to any extend are worthless. Avarice and gluttony must be held back, or else a person can and will be consumed by those desires, and Ashley only doesn't respect people who are prone to this because they could have been better, and simply didn't listen. CHARACTER APPEARANCE Height: 5'3" [160cm] Weight: 117lbs [53kg] Physical Traits: FIGHTING STYLE General Fighting Style: Due to how her abilities work, while Ashley is capable of fighting on her own, she prefers to allow her allies to take care of the majority of it and offer support from the sidelines. That said, she is capable of devasating amounts of destruction and an insane offense if she so chooses, so do not take her for granted. Her abilities are all fired from her staff, and while the weapon cannot break she treasures it dearly and doesn't like anyone to even touch it. Strengths: Agility, Spiritual Control, Reiatsu, Reiryoku Weaknesses: Strength, Durability, Endurance, Hakuda, Zanjutsu PRIMARY STAGE Ability Name: True Sight Ashley has an incredibly high level of perception: She can read lips with perfect accuracy, anticipate some moves based on muscle tension, physically see Reiatsu, is able to distinguish it by composition and source, can detect irregularities in a person's flow, and can see through obstructions less than 6in thick. This has no cooldown or charge time, and when it is active Ashley's right eye is completely white. Additionally, this drains no reiatsu from Ashley whatsoever. Ability Name: Illumination [passive] Any spiritual or living being hit by Ashley's abilities has a lingering light on them. This light can only be seen by Ashley, and if she hits them with a melee attack, they take a Cero point-blank centered on their location. Ability Name: Ranged Attack [passive] Ashley can fire off a fraction of a bala of compressed light from her staff. She can fire this off 5 times per post, travels at bala speeds, but inflicts damage equal to a point-blank melee attack upon landing... including any benefits that may instill. [See: Illumination] Ability Name: Light Bending [passive] Due to Ashley bending light to form her attacks and not simply generating them out of thin air, Ashley's abilities only drain half of the energy that they would from someone else. Ashley can fire off two abilities for every one that someone else would; if she fired off two ceros from [Esoteric Light Manipulation], it would drain the same energy as someone else firing off one cero. Ability Name: Esoteric Light [passive] Ashley can manipulate the esoteric side of light with special properties and a mystical nature to it. This ability is constantly active and gives Ashley High-Speed Regeneration while in contact with any form of light. Ashley can also physically touch someone to grant them her High-Speed Regeneration as long as they are in physical contact with her. Ashley's Regeneration takes three posts to regenerate a lost limb, two posts to heal major internal damage, one post to heal deep cuts and burns, and minor scratches and knicks are healed almost instantly. Ashley's own abilities do not trigger [Esoteric Light], the Light Source must be external and unrelated to her. Ability Name: Esoteric Light Manipulation Ashley can manipulate the esoteric side of light with special properties and a mystical nature to it. This ability allows Ashley to fire off Esoteric Light, and allows her to release attacks of varying strength from her staff. Her limit is Cero Oscuras, and any attack released has a relevant cooldown, preventing attacks of that strength from being used again until the cooldown is up.
Cero: 3 per Post Gran Rey Cero: 4 Post Cooldown Cero Oscuras: 5 Post Cooldown Ability Name: Salvation Ashley can fire off a bala of pure esoteric light that has homing on whoever she wants it to hit. When this ability makes contact with someone, it grants them Ashley's High-Speed Regeneration from [Esoteric Light] for 1 post. Ashley can fire this off once per post, but cannot control it once it's been fired; ie, someone can intercept it. Ability Name: Binding Light Ashley releases a sphere of light which binds and blinds the first two spiritual or living beings hit. This travels at bala speed up to 5m away from her, and deals cero damage to both targets hit. This can be used every other post, and targets hit are affected for one post. Ability Name: Orb of Deception Ashley fires off a focused orb of light, traveling at Bala speed, inflicting Bala damage to everything hit, and traveling for 10m. Upon reaching its' destination, the Orb begins traveling back to Ashley, at Bala speed, but this time dealing Cero damage to everything hit. This has a 2 post cooldown, and travels to and from Ashley in a single post. Ability Name: Prismatic Barrier Ashley releases a large wave of light which travels 10m in one post, and then travels back to her the second post. All allied targets hit by this wave receive a shield of light, reducing damage taken for 1 post by 50%. Ashley gains the effect when this ability is used, and when it comes back to her. This has a 3 post cooldown, starting when it comes back to her. Ability Name: Lucent Singularity Ashley fires an anomaly of twisted light to an area within 20m of her; the anomaly covers an area 5ft in radius, slows all movement speed by 25% (including Ashley's own), and can last up to 3 posts. At any point during its' life, Ashley can detonate it by snapping her fingers, dealing Hado85 damage within the radius instantly. This has a 4 post cooldown beginning after it's blown up, and cannot blow up in the same post it was launched. Ability Name: Haste Field This ability shares a cooldown with [Slow Field]. When active, Ashley creates an area of light centered on her location and traveling in all directions for 10ft; everything hit by this ability gains a 100% movement and attack speed bonus for 3 posts. This has a 5 post cooldown. Ability Name: Slow Field This ability shares a cooldown with [Haste Field]. When active, Ashley distorts the light in a target area 10ft in radius, anywhere within 50ft of her, that has a 200% increase to Gravity in it. Ashley is immune to the Gravity, but nothing else is. This lasts for 3 posts, and has a 5 post cooldown. Ability Name: Final Spark Ashley charges for one post, and then releases a large focused laser; this deals damage akin to Hado95 to everything hit, travels in a perfectly straight line up to 50m from her current position, is the same size as Ashley herself (5'3" in diameter), and if anything hit has the Illumination debuff, Final Spark ignites it dealing the focused Cero damage in addition to Hado95. While charging, Ashley cannot use any of her abilities, but may move freely. This has a 6 post cooldown. Boosts: 4x Overall, Except: Strength, Durability, Endurance, Hakuda, Zanjutsu EQUIPMENT Iridescent Light [Staff] [Picture Link] Iridescent Light is Ashley's staff, and is the focal point of all of her active abilities. Both sides of the staff function identically, and it does not matter which side is facing her target, but all of her abilities are launched out of the staff. It is as durable as any known Zanpakutou and is incredibly difficult to break. It is exactly 5' in length, and when not being used is carried over her shoulder on a leather strap. BACK-DROP The Salem Witch Trials were a notorious event in America's History; it was far and by the most vivid example of Mass Hysteria, was an example of Religious Extremism and Isolationism, and gets used in modern literature and entertainment like it's nothing. Of course... they weren't wrong. In Jamestown, Virginia, in the middle of the Seventeeth Century, there was born a girl with blonde hair and red eyes: Sarah de Grey. She was a simple girl, did what she was asked to, was very prim and proper... and then one day, that all disappeared. This little girl had disappeared into the forest when playing with her friends. There, she found a Hollow who took an interest in her; thinking him to be the Devil, the little girl held back her screams in fear of death. The Hollow made a deal with her, not killing her or anyone in her family as long as she did what he said. With nothing else to do, she accepted the deal; the Hollow entered into her and became a part of her soul. Returning to the village, a few years passed and nothing happened. She was in her mid twenties' when her family moved to Salem, and when she had her first child (also a daughter), she knew that the Devil had left her, and was inside her child now. Raising her properly, while the younger girl was too small to understand her mother, she talked to the Devil and begged him to not hurt her; the Hollow reminded her that the deal was not killing anyone in her family, regardless of how far removed they are. This reassured her, and she never spoke of it again. The Salem Witch Trials killed her, due to her red eyes; with just the little girl and the father left, he ran away to save them both, and lived in the middle of nowhere. When the girl grew up, she married a man and had a daughter with him as well; not knowing that there was a Hollow inside of her, she felt empty upon giving birth to the daughter, and killed her father and husband, taking the daughter to go kill her as well. The Hollow took over, using subtle tricks to subdue the mother, making good on his promise to not kill her. He simply wanted to stay safe knowing he was weak, and stayed inside each daughter of the family, keeping them alive through subtle magics and minor telekinesis. Every time they were pregnant, they would only give birth to a single daughter; always blond hair, always red eyes. The Hollow would stay inside the youngest one, abandoning the older one upon birth. This continued for hundreds of years, all the way to the birth of Ashley Vega. At the age of six, Ashley spoke aloud to no one in particular, and then punched herself in the stomach when the Hollow didn't answer. Confused, he questioned how she knew he was there; she didn't have an answer, saying it just made sense. Ashley kept her little secret, knowing that no one else would believe or understand it, and until the age of ten only spoke to him when they were completely alone. When she was Ten years old, Ashley's mother got into a car crash with her in the back seat; though both would survive eventually, the Hollow who had grown accustomed to Ashley had to sacrifice himself to save her. He sacrificed his essence to give Ashley the regenerative powers she needed to survive the accident, and though she's grateful to him for this, she's always felt lonely since. At twelve, Ashley discovered she had powers over light. The girl began to practice with them, making little spheres of light that she could throw at things and make them explode; while she was always careful with this, she knew the danger it would pose if anyone else found out, so she kept it to herself. Her parents would never know what she could do, and as long as she kept it confidential even she wouldn't know what her limits were. At fifteen, Ashley graduated High School an entire three years early due to studying and devoting herself to it, and decided to forgo college entirely. She wanted to travel the world, even at her young age, and explore everything she could; knowing their daughter's curiosity, the two agreed to go on a trip around the world. The trip three years, with Ashley subtly practicing her powers in various places of the world where people wouldn't recognize her. On her eighteenth birthday, Ashley's parents told her that they knew of her powers and were willing to help her learn them. When questioned how, Ashley's mother replied that she had the same powers until she gave birth to Ashley, and then no longer did. It was a standard observation that Ashley now had them, and knowing she was welcomed and loved, Ashley began to practice them more openly. Her abilities manifested as very destructive on top of utility and defense. It was a difficult concept to get a hold of, that not everything she could do would hurt people, but given that her mother, her grandmother, her great grandmother, etc. all had the same power set, it made learning how to use them more easy since she had someone with her who was familiar with the powers. Her mother was understanding of the time it took her to figure out how to best user her powers, but given that she had been through this herself, it was easy to get her to fully understand exactly how to use them. A little bit of intuition combined with her mother's tutoring, and things made perfect sense to the girl. Now at Nineteen years old, Ashley has decided she's ready to go on her own. She's got enough money to keep herself sustained; she'll never buy a house, but her parents keep her bank account fat enough that she can easily afford a hotel room and dinner every night. Now, it's time she goes to New York, to discover exactly what this Committee she's heard about is. |
