The halls were oddly quiet as Gwynevere walked through them. Guards salute as she passes, earning a wave and a warm motherly smile in return. This was the common occurrence down this hallway until she came across a set of rec cedar double doors, doors she tenderly runs a hand down. It was an odd thing to remember, but her father had really liked how this wood looked. Said it reminded him of the fire he always felt in his soul. She sighs, and gives a confident knock upon the freshly polished surface, her knuckles tapping against it three times before going momentarily silent. "Please pardon me Primarch Rex, but if you have a moment I would like to speak with you." Her voice was calm and relaxed, not indicating a problem in the least.

He’d been poring through another dusty tome of Norse legend when a knock fell upon his door. The knock was loud and heavy, as were all knocks on the ancient doors, and it jostled him from his reading more suddenly than he would have liked. If the office itself wasn’t such a historic room he’d have replaced the doors with lighter ones long ago. Nevertheless, Rex closed the book gently, slipping a leather bookmark between the pages as he did so. The red tassels of the bookmark stuck out from its pages and over the filigree edge of his redwood desk as he pushed it to the side.

“Come in,” he said, leaning onto his desk. As Gwynevere would enter, he’d greet her in a cordial fashion as he always did, crossing his arms across the open space on his desk. “Alright?”

The door swings open when she had permission to enter, and a calm smile graced her face upon seeing the young man. "Good afternoon, Primarch Rex. I am fine, I just wanted to talk. After all, I am responsible for your protection and safety." Every single Primarch, even Rex, always made her think of her Father back before he lost his mind. "I see you were reading, is the book to your liking?" Patiently she listens, and takes a seat on one of the chairs before his desk.

"I see. Has your training been coming along well? As the face of the Diocese, you should always be feeling your absolute best, and maintaining a regular workout helps greatly." Her tone was like that of a patient parent, which was followed up with a giggle. "You're still young as well, you're bound to be flowing with energy and enthusiasm."

Rex nodded, showing the title of the book to Gwynevere. Prose Edda was written on the top in filigree hand. "It's quite a good read, actually. Norse mythology and all that. Fascinating stuff."

He kept listening as Gwynevere continued. Like a caring mother, she made sure that Rex was keeping up on his training and conditioning, even though she should have known better. Rex resisted the urge to roll his eyes at her coddling nature and instead chuckled, letting a small smile appear on his face. "Blimey Gwynevere I don't look that off do I? I've been keeping up on all that. Just wanted a bit of time to study is all."

He sighed. "But I reckon you've a bit more to say, eh? Any big word or just a little chat for now?"

The woman chuckles a little. "No worries, I did not come to talk your ear off about training. I am sure you hear it enough from the Paladins." She gives a small shake of her head. "No, I just wanted to have a small chat. You are our leader, but you are still young. Speaking of, what do you think of our newest members? I do believe many show some potential, and actually have pleasant personalities to match. Some of our older soldiers just seem too... serious." Saki in particular comes to mind, the girl was young and powerful, but didn't seem too serious. A bit shy, sure, but Gwynevere knew she probably had reason to be. And then there was Brody... He was antagonistic, sure, and was sure she would eventually have to straighten him out one day, but he had slight redeeming qualities. He spoke funny, and it made her giggle a bit.

She looks over the book while he answers, and was fascinated by the script on the front. Very visually appealing, for sure. She'd have to see if she could borrow the book at a later date, it was sure to be a good read. "I'll be making sure they are in top shape myself. All you will need to do is direct us where you wish our influence spread."

Rex thought about the new recruits. Honestly, he hadn't spent enough time with them to form an opinion of each one, having buried himself in his studies and other work. "I think they have potential. They'll serve the Holy Mission well." He said. It was a canned answer, and he was sure Gwynevere would pick up on that, but he'd had other things on his mind.

The attack by Hollows on New York City and its subsequent destruction by the opportunistic Sinners. It was a grisly thing indeed, and its tale told of a terrible portent to come. If the Hollows and Arrancar were willing to make such an organized attack so suddenly, it could mean bad things for the world in the near future. The Quincy's Holy Mission was to slay the Hollows, and now Rex inherited the burden of seeing that task through.

He changed the topic suddenly. Perhaps it would be good to weigh his thoughts upon his partner. "Have you heard of the Wahrwelt, Gwynevere?"

Seralin

She gives a light chuckle, catching the hint. "Understood, Primarch Rex." He was a busy man after all, he didn't have the time to truly get to know everyone. That was her job, after all. However, his topic change caught her more than a bit off guard.

Wahrwelt. A chill went down her back upon hearing of it. "Do you mean the stronghold? That had been lost when my father; the first Quincy and your origin, lost in a failed invasion of the Soul Society. I can't recall how it was lost, or even where..." In fact, she was sure if she never was to hear of it for another hundred or so years she would have probably forgotten all about it. "I take it you've been recovering some memories from past lives?" It wasn't too far of guess, his previous reincarnations experienced this same phenomenon. "If that's the case, I take it you have some interest in finding this stronghold. I can see if I can dig up anything about Wahrwelt from our archives, though it might not yield much, if anything. Wahrwelt was created by my father, and it's location kept secret from me between a handful of his Sternritter. It dates back that far, before even the Church." This wasn't a bad thing in her opinion, her father's intention of having formed the Sternritter had good intent, but was too open to power struggles. And oh, how he made them struggle to get to the top. Strength was rewarded, weakness was cut away, often times literally. It made him cold, and she was glad to see the practice gone. She didn't want to see this young man become like her father.

Rex sighed. "I understand the mechanism by which the Wahrwelt sets its location. It can occupy some space in between the worlds, outside of the space between the World of the Living and Soul Society. Or even Hueco Mundo. But its current location was taken to the grave with your father, and I can't recall exactly how to get to it for some reason."

He turned out to the window. "That New York essentially fell to the Hollows is a failure on all of us. If they're willing to make such organized attacks then it's only a matter of time before they put together a proper military effort. I'd like to be ahead of that. Having Silbern will be critical in mounting any kind of military effort against Hueco Mundo and the Espada."

He looked back to Gwynevere. "I'd like to start building up our power. If the Hollows are going to escalate, we'll have to meet them on even terms. Any thoughts?"

It hurt a little, remembering her father. Time could not replace that figure in her life. He was good, once. However, Rex moved on to talk about the incident in New York. "It was a shame that the Committee was lost. We may not have entirely seen eye-to-eye, but we always had humanity's best interests at heart."

The he brought the Wahrwelt back up. "Every Quincy can feel Silbern call to them, I can to this day, but I just can't seem to narrow it down at all. As if it distorts the Spirit Particles around it to keep itself hidden." She perks up a little, having thought about this. "We will need your memories to properly find the Wahrwelt, and therefore Silbern, our ancestral home. A good idea might be to practice meditation, clear your mind and allow you to focus your thoughts. Of course, that might take days, into weeks, time we may not have. Or, we could go to places you are remembering and see if it will bring back further memories relating to Wahrwelt."

"Meditation..." He mused. True, allowing himself to succumb to the flow of reishi would allow him to detect the lost presence of Silbern easier, but what was it he had to detect? He couldn't rely on it being one of those things that he'd recognize. It would make sense that he'd be able to, the very thought of it brought a feeling like having a word on the tip of one's tongue, but Rex wasn't the kind of leader to take risks based on psychological speculation. Gwynevere's second option was more appealing, especially when considered in tandem with the first.

"We'll have to get some more believable evidence of its last location." Rex said. "We've deployed into the Seireitei many times via Wahrwelt, so suppose it's still there. I doubt the Shinigami will roll out the red carpet for us while we search their headquarters for any trace of certain Reishi. We'll have to be pretty certain before we make any moves..." He stood there in thought for a little bit, cupping his chin with his hand. "Do you think we can delegate this task? Our spies may be able to locate that reishi, and we'll be able to cover a broader space doing that. I'll likely still have to use Himmelstor to get in, but I don't think it'll be out of the question to suppose that any Quincy can detect that reishi."
