Kirei groaned, sitting on a bed, watching a woman in front of her pull several outfits out of a closet. “I have to meet him soon, Imouto.”
The bubbly girl shoved an outfit at Kirei’s face. “This?” Kirei looked down in disgust.
“Ok not that.”
She began tossing outfits around and finally, something flying through the air caught Kirei’s eye. “What about that one?”
“Ew, you won’t attract men with that.”
Kirei stood up and angrily grabbed the dress. “I’m meeting Taisho! Not attracting men!” She huffed and walked off to change.
She came out and saw her little sister’s eyes light up. “Oh, well that does look good on you.”
“Really?” Kirei said and looked down with a smile. It was a loose grey skirt with a tight white blouse.
Kirei looked around the floors and laughed, noticing they were spotless. In the time it took her to get dressed her sister had managed to clean the floor of the clothes. Kirei walked over and sat down on the bed, pulling on some grey flats. “It feels weird not to have my boots on.”
She looked over and grabbed her gloves.
“Really, you’re going to wear those?” Her little sister sneered.
“They are weapons, not a fashion statement.” Kirei growled, carefully pulling the black fingerless gloves on. She looked at the metal on the knuckles, she noticed that they were scuffed up a little, she rubbed it on the bed sheets a little, seeing the shine once more.
Kirei looked down at the necklace she cherished so greatly. She closed her eyes, trying to put the image out of her mind. The image of her rushing to Taisho, full power, trying to kill him. She shuddered and reached out for the necklace, putting it around her neck, not bothering to tuck it in her shirt today. She tightened the bow on her wrist and looked over at her little sister. “Alright, I’m ready.”
“Alright.” She handed Kirei a shoe box and smiled at her. “Tell Taisho I said Hi, I’ll have your robe finished by tomorrow morning, hun. Love you.”
Kirei smiled and took the box, kissing her sister on the cheek. “Love you too.” Kirei walked out of the room into a long hallway, then walked into a living room. “Bye Father.” She said to an older man, with two kids asleep on his lap. “Bye, Kirei.” He mouthed. Kirei smiled softly, hearing one of the kids mumble. They were her nieces. She walked out of the front door with a wide smile on her face.
Walking down a pathway she reached a giant gate that connected to a tall wall that went all around the house hold. She opened the gate, letting her fingers linger on the cold metal. She turned her head once more to look at a big word “Kurushimi”. “Thank you, Taisho.” She whispered softly.
She walked calmly. She knew Taisho would have someone else keeping him company and probably wouldn’t notice if she was late. She smiled randomly again, she had done half the paper work at the house, leaving her father to drop them off at Taisho’s office. She could feel the bounce of her necklace with every step she took, it was odd. Her sword swung with her steps, loosely hanging on her left hip.
She finally reached a bar where she was told to meet Taisho. She tucked some strands of hair behind her ear. She clutched the box with her left arm and with her right hand opened the door. It was slightly dark in the bar, some eyes turned to look at her and she smiled weakly. Her eyes scanned for her captain. When she finally spotted him she smiled and approached, coming from behind him.
She got a good look at his friend while she was approaching her captain. He looked strong, but a lot like Taisho. He looked like he could be a friend instead of a soldier. Kirei finally reached Taisho and laid her chin on his left shoulder. “Taisho!” She said a bit loudly and giggled.
She still had the black shoe box clutched in her arms, she felt like she was holding Taisho’s sword again, when she refused to give it to anyone. She rolled off her tippy toes and went back to flat footed, and then she would walk around Taisho, presenting the box to him. “I am sorry I’ve been gone the last couple of days.” She whispered, her smile fading a little. “I had something to finish.” She gave a faint smile before gesturing to Taisho to open the box.
In the box he would find his white captain’s jacket. Some parts poorly sown together, others seemed like a master did it. On the back he’d find an off color white patch sown into the jacket where she hit him with the kido. It was capable of wearing, fashionable for burning and obviously a lot of work. “I saw the look on your face when I hit it…” She whispered. “It was just like the face I would have had if this necklace got destroyed.”
