The execution was flawless. A small silver tube, roughly the size of a double 'A' battery, arced through the air. It was encased in spiritual energy, the reishi shaped like an arrow head. Behind it, the arrow shaft and tail trailed with glory. "Tilt the goblet to the west - Wolke!" The moment the arrow made impact with the tree it had been aimed for, the ginto tube exploded in a massive blast of reiatsu, flattening the tree and leveling a circle around it. Because his reiatsu had a fiery element to it, the explosion contained a touch of fire. The grass around it that hadn't been flattened was burned to a crisp. The tree itself had received some pretty prominant burn scars. It was a clear radius of 10 feet. Pure destruction.
But it wasn't enough for Grimm. Relaxing his arm, he spun the bow around him so he was holding it behind his body like a bow staff. Perfectly vertical, it was only inches shorter then him. He needed more. He couldn't do anything without his bow. His ginto was good, but it wasn't amazing. Not on it's own. There's no way it would eliminate threats on it's own. Sure, he still had seele shneiders, but again, what if he were disarmed? Or what if he ran out? What he needed was a ginto technique that didn't rely on range. Close combat ginto that wasn't a major threat to him when used.
He had heard stories from shinigami about a legendary technique called "Shunko". It used their signature kido energy to amplify their physical prowess. Apparently, it was also capable of outright cancelling out other kido just by applying the same amount of force. As he contemplated this, Grimm flipped a ginto tube between his fingers rapidly. What if... what if he learned to do the same thing with his ginto? Perhaps he could develop a spell that would, when activated, force ginto energy through his body. It was highly impractical for a quincy, but there was very few things about Grimm that was practical for a quincy. Yes. That's what he needed.
But how to achieve it? He would need to watch kido energy in action. How it was converted from regular reishi, how it was channeled, and how it was used. It didn't matter how. Any kido would work. All he needed was to see. After that, Grimm would simply emulate it using his ginto tubes. Okay, so it wouldn't be that easy. It would take some trial and error, but he was sure he could do it. But where would he find a shinigami to assist him in such a thing? Shinigami weren't too fond of quincy (granted, their attitude had improved the last couple of years, but still).
"I guess the only thing to do would be alert them of my presence." Looking around him as he spoke softly, Grimm's yellow eyes studied the trees. Mainly pine, he had chosen this small clearing to practice because it was out of the way of innocent lives. He would not harm anyone today, unless they truly deserved it. Dismissing his bow, his ring shimmered orange for a moment before returning to normal. Walking towards the largest tree he could find, Grimm's black moccosin's crushed dried grass with every step. The blast he had just caused seemed to have evaporated a healthy amount of moisture from everything in the immediate area. Interesting.
Stopping once he reached the largest tree around him, Grimm reached up, grasped a tree, and began to climb. Stopping himself once he reached a height equalling roughly himself twice, he let go of the branch and stepped to the side. Concentrating spiritual particles under his feet, flaming platforms appeared. Shaking his head and smiling at his own foolishness, he simply walked straight up in the air until he reached the top of the tree. Stepping onto it, he balanced himself carefully.
Forming his bow once more, Grimm pointed it straight up into the air. Pulling his string back as slowly as he could, reishi particles began to zoom towards the middle of the bow. The more spirit particles that he called, the brighter the area got. And that was saying something, considering it was nearly noon. More and more spiritual particles gathered, their image resembling embers or sparks convering towards a single point. As he pulled, an incredibly dense arrow formed. It was practically solid. Grunting at the weight of the draw, Grimm gave one final tug. There. The arrow was complete. And what a fantastic sight. Completely on fire, the flaming arrow crackled with a hatred and malice that almost scared Grimm.
Shooting it straight up into the air, the collected spirit particles of a 30 foot arrow shot with amazing speed. Unfortunately, it was just too unstable for Grimm to handle. But that was perfect. It was exactly what he wanted. As it exploded, fire rained down from the contact point. Thankfully, it dispersed in the air, doing no damage to the forest below. Nevertheless, Grimm hoped it would do exactly as he intended it to do. Draw a shinigami to him. The blast simply radiated reiatsu, and would surely be a beacon for those hell-bent on protecting the world.
Sliding down the tree, Grimm landed heartily on his feet. Plucking some needles from his shirt and pants, he noticed his bow was slowly starting to deform. Dismissing it entirely, he waited for the area to go back to normal. Perhaps he concentrated too much reishi from the area. Laughing, he took a seat beneath the tree, in the nice shade outside of the sun, and waited.
